I'm not a full-time blogger, but shoot, if I could get just a little bit of backing to keep my lights on and such, then I'd be all for it. I guess I should look into it a bit more.

I'm currently looking into it myself. With the New Year approaching, I want a new start of sorts. And you will never know unless you try. Still it's a lot to think about so I am taking my time. For now.

LOL. Stalk me please, I need the hits! But really, I know in a perfect life, we would all be doing what we dreamed of. It's a lot for me to think about but my heart is telling me to go for it.

I'm actually unemployed now as of 11/4 so technically you could say I am full time, althought the revenues would tell you otherwise LOL. Anyhoo…I'll be a regular, best wishes and I'll let you know how goes it for me too. toodles. ~ ini

Religion, that's another topic to discuss but yes, I do believe in HIM and I know He will steer me in the right direction. Thanks sis. :)

  6. Full Time blogging sounds like a great idea but before taking the leap I would look at much money you're already bringing blogging and lay out a plan of the steps you're going to take to expand those revenues to a full time salary.

read Problogger.net, he is a full time blogger and a lot of great post on the pros and cons of being one.

Thank you for the advice. It's something I am considering but there is so much to weigh in terms of financial, etc. etc. I have Problogger.net as a favorite and plan to go through their website to learn more about the options, pros, cons, etc.

A lot of fulltime bloggers I know turned fulltime by making their blog into more of a mag with various topics so they'll have more topics to write on. And many fulltime bloggers also blog about what they actually do professionally or as a major hobby, like a makeup artist has a blog about makeup… focusing on something that you have a huge interest in.

I'm not a fulltime blogger, just post on days that I have something to share. I personally would like to start a local online mag for young professionals in my area, but I work fulltime, fulltime mom and also just started an online business designing bags and scarves. Soooo the blogmag is on the back burner.

Definitely research and make sure that it is something that you can commit to. I'll keep stalking your blog, we all need the hits lol. Much luck to you!

If you've got determination, it can be done, but I've discovered that it is a lot easier making money at my part-time job outside the home (unfortunately!)

  11. Wow! This is a great post. Very honest. I wish I had known about all this social media stuff when I was a stay at home mom. But now that I'm working again, my job really gets in the way of my blogging :) . My best advice is to find the blogs that you really like and look at their blogrolls. Good bloggers usually know other bloggers. So research as many blogs as you can, subscribe to them, leave comments and develop relationships that way. Also, going to blogger conferences is very helpful. I attended in Blogalicious (http://www.blogaliciousweekend.com) in October. It was an amazing experience. I strongly suggest that you go next year. But you dont' have to wait until October for a conference. There are so many throughout the year that can be helpful. Good luck with everything. Keep Posting.

Thank you for visiting my site! I wanted to attend Blogalicious myself but at the time, couldn't afford the vacation time away from work. I plan on going next year and attending other events as they come up as well! I haven't decided if I want to pursue a blogging career but I am giving it some deep thought! Thanks for your suggestions!

You hit the nail on the head… blogging as a professions is less about actually blogging, and more about marketing and publicity… you have to find your niche, find your voice, what are you offering that's not already out there? If it's already out there, how can you give it a different spend? Why would people want to come to your blog? why would advertisers want to invest? It's very important to develop a brand…and for some reason, it seems that if you're not gossiping about celebs, it's takes longer for your site to create a significant buzz…or so it seems. We're ramping up now, developing partnerships, and working to grow our site traffic…and it is work! plus I have a day job, so I work during the day, and I spend a lot of time working on blog project at night…that's one reason I am typically online during the day. Fortunately for us, there are two of us to divide the work.
