February 1st through the 5th has been deemed Social Networking Week. In major cities such as New York and San Francisco, there will be plenty of panels and workshops for bloggers and other media. I don’t live in a large city, so there are virtually no gatherings for Social Media Week in my neck of the woods.
But this will not deter me. And it should not deter you from getting involved.
I am sponsoring a small but specific Social Media Week Interactive Chat via TinyChat on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 6 pm CST to 7:30 pm CST. If you do not already have a TinyChat account, sign up HERE. This will give us the option of all being able to see one another via webcam and hear one another speak simultaneously.

This is a great idea. A friend, Liz Strauss, does weekly open mic nights on Tuesday on her blog. They are a great way to run a topic up the flag pole as well as introduce folks. Yours could have the same success, but making it localized might even be better. I'll do what I can to support.
