When Oprah speaks, the world listens. And when she announced her No Phone Zone Pledge last month, a lot of people took heed.

The pledge goes like this:

I pledge to make my car a No Phone Zone. Beginning right now,  I will do my part to help put an end to distracted driving by pledging the safest driving behavior I can commit to:

I will not text while I am driving.
I will not text while driving and will use only handsfree calling if I need to speak on the phone while I am driving.
I will not text or use my phone while I am driving. If I need to use my phone, I will pull over to the side of the road.
According to Winfrey’s site, 118665 people have taken the pledge online. Millions of others have taken the pledge via her syndicated talk show and her magazine.
Oprah has been passionate about people not using phones while they are driving because of the accidents and loss of life that has been caused due to people driving recklessly because they are texting or talking on the cellphone while driving.
I couldn’t agree more! As a matter of fact, after seeing a Tyra episode about the dangers of texting and on the phone while driving earlier last fall, my son began scolding me for doing so.
Do you think Oprah has enough pull to get people to stop using their cellphones while driving? Do you text or talk on the phone while driving? Comment and leave feedback below.
