  1. This is interesting because I was involved in a tweetversation with someone last week about menstrual related matters. According to a Retweet in my timeline, and I say this with a straight face, having sex during your menstrual eases the pain of cramping. Yes, now, I don't want to speak judgemently about this because there maybe someone out there bold enough to try it, I however am not that someone. Just thought I'd share that though since it came from a medical journal lol.

I used to have the same PMS problems growing up. I would hate when that time of the month came around because I would lie in bed for hours curled up in pain. Fast forward to when I was pregnant with my son, I enjoyed those nine months of not having a period. I said if I could have a baby every nine months just so I couldn't have a period, I would. Unfortunately that didn't work out financially or mentally. Then years later, the shot called the "Depo Provera" came out. I asked my doctor about it and she placed me on it. I love this shot. No more PMS, cramping, bloating, or mood swings. No more periods. Period (except for some occasional spotting, maybe once or twice a year). Now that I’m in my mid 40s, I asked my doctor how long I could use the Depo Provera shot. She said as long as I wanted and that she just recommends that I drink a lot of milk and eat other dairy products along with a multi-vitamin because the shot does cause bone loss. Other than that, I love this shot and will stay on it until I die as long as I don’t have to experience the dreaded, “It’s that time of the month, again.”

When I was younger it affected my only physically as I have gotten older… that’s changed. I’m anemic. So, my iron level drops incredibly low and I get real tired. I’m also hypoglycemic, so at times I have fainted. Over the past few years I’ve noticed that well, commercials make me cry. I get real offended by things that well, make no sense a couple of days later… and migraines. The first couple of days before? I have a constant headache that won’t go away. Yeah, it’s a lot of fun and keeps (not) getting better.

I do notice that I am more emotional but since I have lupus it really affects me physically. Everything hurts and I am super tired.
