Do You Wear White After Labor Day?

I took to my Twitter and Facebook yesterday and asked the fashion old question for the ages: Do you wear white after Labor Day?

When I was little, I remember my mother and grandmother were both adamant about me not wearing white after Labor Day. Supposedly, Labor Day marked the end of summer and thus dark, more neutral beiges and browns were par for the course and not white. I came up thinking that wearing white after Labor Day was an absolute no no.

Fast forward to my present life and YES, darlings, I wear white after Labor Day. White is a year around color that can be worn any season at any time. It can be dressed up or worn casually. And a pretty winter white pea coat is like JOY to my eyes.

The wearing white after Labor Day rule doesn’t apply to everyone anymore. Here are some of the replies I received about wearing white after Labor Day:
