He’s Cheating On Me With His Blackberry

“I used to say that my ex boyfriend’s Blackberry was his mistress…”— my friend Danielle.

It is so easy these days to become addicted to technology. It is everywhere around us and we are virtually force fed into getting the latest gadgetry and tech item on the market. Most of us carry smartphones to email, text, tweet, and check the Internet, and we cannot seem to break away from them, even when we are with our loved ones spending quality time. But when your man cannot seem to fit you in because he stays on his Blackerry or iPhone—what’s a girl to do?

I too struggle with the “Blackberry is his mistress” syndrome. In my relationship, he is always plugged into the Matrix because it is a part of his job. It’s a necessary evil and it pays the bills, so who am I to come in between that. But there comes a time when it is all too much. I want to have a quiet dinner without him checking his device. I don’t remember the last time his phone didn’t interrupt our plans in some way.

It’s as if he is cheating on me with his Blackberry.

I am also a #TeamBlackerry participant, but I don’t feel it interrupts my life. I know when to break away and when to put it away when there are other pressure issues at hand or when quality time is needed.

There have been times I have put my foot down and threatened to leave our date if he didn’t get off the phone. Business is business….but this right here brother is cramping my style.

Does anyone else have any stories of their boyfriend or husbands cheating on them with their smartphone? How do you handle it? Please give me some advice before I resort to putting him in a headlock.

(I kid, I kid. I would never resort to domestic violence!)
