Know Your Triggers to Weight Gain to Overcome Your Obstacles

November 16, 2010 3 Comments »

The following blog post is a personal introspective from my weight loss files and I try to do better by my body as well as my soul by eating healthier and exercising. Each week I will discuss my roadblocks and setbacks, triumphs and breakthroughs, and other random items as it relates to reaching my overall weight loss goal.

This past week has been great were my weight loss is concerned. One of the improvements I am seeing in the way that I eat is that I am learning what triggers my overeating. Eating out is definitely something that leads me into temptation, so that is something I have been trying to stay away from. When I have eaten out this week, I think about what I want and how it could effect my progress—eating something too high in calories and/or fat could cause a downward spiral. So far, I like my results so I don’t want to go back to gaining weight—I would rather eat in moderation and continue to work towards my goal.

Another one of my triggers is eating when bored. I tend to snack when I am bored which leads to packing on weight. I am not really hungry during these moments, but stuffing my face tends to fill a void of some sorts. Curtailing my snacking and not eating when bored definitely makes a difference in my weight.

So in terms of my weight, I am feeling good. I am nowhere near my goal, but I feel good while working towards my goal knowing that I am taking long term steps and strides to conquer my demons that contribute to my drastic weight loss and weight gain.

What are your triggers when it comes to overeating? How have you conquered your triggers to make progress? I’d like to hear (or read) your comments.
