70′s Family Flashback In Pictures: The Way We Were

As most of you are aware, my father was hospitalized recently for eleven days due to issues with his diabetes, heart disease, and kidneys. During this time, my family and I rallied together to help get him well, and in doing so, we have grown closer. My aunt who is my dad’s twin sister has been going through old photos and sharing them with us.The other day, she came across these gems and I just had to post for you, my readers, who have been so supportive and caring through this time.

I believe the photos are from 1977 or 1978 (I would have been 2 or 3) and were taking during the holidays. Seeing my dad here in all of his afro’d glory, looking suave in a faux silk shirt and pleated polyester pants makes me happy for some reason. My mom was looking quite fab herself in a skirt suit, hair feathered and highlighted to perfection.

And little me? Well, wasn’t I a cute one? It’s amazing that at that age, I resemble what my daughter looks like now (me with less hair of course)—the resemblance is really striking.

In hard times, memories always prevail, and make you think about the good times you shared. My family isn’t the closest but we love one another bunches and we are there for each other when needed.

Weren’t we fly back then?
