The NAACP Launches New Social Network NAACPConnect

November 9, 2011 Comments Off

On November 7th, the NAACP launched a new social network called NAACPConnect, an online hub and portal for members of the NAACP Youth & College Division and participants in the Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) Program. The social network also has homes on other social media avenues including Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Tumblr, and Google +.

According to the press release:

NAACPConnect will offer everything from exclusive written and multimedia content, to skills trainings, to micro-mentoring aimed at educational and professional development.  Site users can also look forward to regular online conversations with distinguished NAACP Youth & College Division and ACT-SO alumni.

This new portal continues to help the NAACP with their goal to stay on the forefront of social media and spreading their message to a younger audience who is ready to take the lead in the ongoing Civil Rights Movement. By having the youth involved in their mission, the NAACP is sure to expand and broaden their reach.

As a Digital Debutante myself, I applaud the NAACP and hope they continue utilizing social media and networks.

What do you think about the NAACP’s recent direction into strong social media messages?
