Michelle Obama’s Look at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards: Haute or Not?

Saturday night, I saw several images of First Lady Michelle Obama at the annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, a celebration complete with green slime and an orange (red) carpet that honors the best of the best when it comes to kids. Kids select the winners in each category and it’s a fun and festive affair where many celebrities who attend bring their kids with them to join in the fun.

Michelle Obama graced the awards with her two girls in tow, Malia and Sasha, and wore what some are calling a provocative number. Dressed in a shiny top with a tweed houndstooth skirt over the top of a pair of jeggings, I thought she looked fab! Certainly, she is not what we have come to know as “First Lady” garb. But when I posted her picture on my Facebook feed, a few people didn’t applaud Michelle’s fashion choice.

What she was wearing didn’t seem “inappropriate” or not “suitable” for her age or for the First Lady, but some people have taken a dislike to what Michelle wears, especially in this instance. One FB person said that Michelle Obama doesn’t “dress her age”. For the past 3 and a half years, that had never crossed my mind.

While I haven’t liked each and everything that Michelle Obama wears, I do love her sense of style and the fact that she looks amazing in most everything she wears. She’s fit and toned and has a body most of us would kill for. She looks pretty good in her wears too.

So I am taking to my website to ask you this: Is First Lady Michelle Obama’s look at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards ‘haute’ or ‘not’? What’s your take on our “fashionable” FLOTUS?
