It looks like we have survived my 8 year old daughter’s first week back to school. It’s been a treat seeing her enjoy her new 3rd grade classroom and teacher, and she is really beginning to come out of her shyness and into her own. She’s growing up so fast right before my eyes!
This year, we wanted to start the school year off with a new style. My daughter has natural unprocessed hair, and it was time for her to get it trimmed and styled. So me and her hair stylist (who happens to be my cousin), came up with a unique style that is both fun and fabulous.
I’ve been playing with the idea of bantu knots, and thought it was high time to try them on The Chicklet. The result, I feel, was a great hairstyle that was not only age appropriate, but a great way to showcase my daughter’s hair.
Check out the look below:
Hair was blow dried and flat ironed
Ends were trimmed and clipped
Hair was divided in 5 sections and braided
Then each section was rolled and twisted and secured with a rubber band to hold knot
Hair in the back was parted and curled under
Full look: Bantu Knots!
We are several days into the hairstyle and it still looks good! I think this will be a hairstyle we will use in the future. I think it came out FABULOUSLY!

She is a cutie and the style is fabulous! I can’t imagine your daughter could have a shy bone in her body, with such a fabulous, outgoing mom as you. So glad her first week has gone well. My daughter started Kindergarten this week…. what a change from having her home all day with me. She has done well, too. Thank the Lord! Have a great weekend.

Thanks for commenting, Lisa. My daughter is shy, but lights up in front of a camera. I am so happy your daughter is doing well in Kindergarten. This is such a precious time
Cute hairstyle! I love Bantu Knots when they are on someone else! LOL. I can’t seem to bring myself to putting them in my hair and then walking out in public with them. Maybe one day I’ll get up the nerve, but for now I think these are so becoming of The Chicklet!

How fun! My daughter’s 2 so I haven’t quite mastered styles like this yet but I’m learning. I saw this round-up of back-to-school styles and thought you might like it: http://www.chocolatehairvanillacare.com/2012/08/2012-school-friendly-hairstyle-round-up.html
