I promised that I would be back to write a more complete review of the tablet and let you know my thoughts on how it compares to the other tablets that are on the market.

Here are my 5 Reasons Why the Kindle Fire is a Gem:

Size:

When traveling, size is everything. You want to travel light when it comes to bringing equipment with you on the plane or train. The wonderful thing about the Kindle Fire is that it's 7 inches and perfect for being on the go. You can watch movies and surf the web on your flight without a big and bulky screen. It's also light enough to put in your purse or briefcase without weighing it down. If you are a heavy traveler, don't sleep on the Kindle Fire.

Amazon Prime:

Yes, the Kindle Fire is made by Amazon, and it's a great companion to the Amazon Prime feature which allows you to download movies, television shows, music, etc. by paying a yearly fee. Have brand new media at your fingertips! Amazon Prime is like the Android Market for media---on steroids. It will bring your Kindle Fire to life.

Price Point:

At $199.00, the Kindle Fire is affordable for a lot of people. Tablets are all the rage these days, but not everyone has $500 and up to spend on a tablet. I bought my S/O a Kindle Fire because he's not an early tech adopter like me (he usually warms up to things a year or 2 after they hit the market) and I didn't want to spend a mint on something he might not use. For the price, it's a great starter tablet, or perfect for that person who doesn't need all of the bells and whistles. Unlike the big name tablets, though, it doesn't have a camera or video feature, so if you must have that within your tablet, the Kindle Fire may not be for you.

Wi-Fi:

I've used the Kindle Fire on my own several times and I must say, I am impressed with the wi-fi capabilities. There is virtually no lagging, and easily connects to the available wi-fi in your area. There is no internal 4g wifi with the Kindle Fire, so you must use an outside wi-fi source to surf the web. If you travel a lot, you may have the option of using your smartphone to tether---or you can purchase a portable wi-fi hotspot.

Android OS:

I love me some Android OS. It gives you the option of personalizing your experience so much more than on the iPad. And if you already have an Android phone, you can synch your apps onto the Kindle Fire by using your Gmail address. I am definitely Team Android, so having it on the Kindle Fire is a win/win for me.

The Kindle Fire is a great buy and gives you the ability to surf the web, listen to music, watch movies, check email, and more on the go seamlessly. I highly recommend this device.

For those of you who are avid followers of The Cubicle Chick (and even some of you who may not be), you may have noticed that both the Cube and I have the Motorola Xoom Android tablets. Imagine my surprise when I picked up my tablet earlier this week and was prompted to download an update!

Recently, Motorola started rolling out an update to the Xoom, which updates it from the Honeycomb tablet operating system to the more recent Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The Xoom was the first tablet in the US to be released with Honeycomb, and is the first that is receiving the update to Ice Cream Sandwich, though other tablets have been released with it pre-loaded.

The first thing I noticed upon booting up after the update was that ICS made the look of everything a little cleaner. It actually reminded me of the look of the OS on the Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1, in that the font was a bit slimmer. It overall didn't look as "chunky" is the best way I can describe it. Lines were thinner and things ran a little smoother.

Upon researching, one of the major improvements with the update include is the ability to use "zoom to fill", which allows users to basically zoom in on apps. This comes in handy for a lot of the games and apps in the market because not all of them have been optimized for tablet viewing, so when viewed on the tablet, the fonts and items within the app appear very small.

Another of the major improvements with ICS is docking support. This allows the tablet to automatically detect which dock you connect it to, and launches the corresponding application or docking profile. Other improvements include rotation acceleration, enabling the device's rotation to be more sensitive, MOTOPRINT which is a printing application for the Xoom, and other tweaks here and there that improve speed, in addition to the aesthetic changes I mentioned earlier.

So far, I've loved all of the improvements! If you have a Motorola Xoom, have you received the update? What did you think? Let us know in the comments below!

Overseas, however, Swatch is still pretty popular, and they have released a collection of watches that celebrate the 2012 Olympic games in London.
As a tween and teen in the late 80's (no laughs please), I was knee deep in Guess acid washed jeans and overalls as well as Coca Cola sweaters, slouch socks, and Keds shoes. I also was fascinated with Swatch watches, fashionable and fun watches that came in bright colors and styles. You weren't cool unless you rocked a Swatch watch, and I had three of them and would wear them all at the same time. Shameful, I know, but it was the 80's!

Swatch is still on the scene and never really went away, even though in the U.S., they haven't been a part of our current pop culture. Overseas, however, Swatch is still pretty popular, and they have released a collection of watches that celebrate the 2012 Olympic games in London. Mod, bright, and totally interesting, this collection of Gents Originals Swatch Watches are definitely a conversation piece.

So says the press email I received:

Swiss fashion watch and jewelry maker Swatch kicks off the new year with a very stylish pair of sports-inspired Gent Originals, the Olympic Games Collection – London 2012. Created with one eye on fashion and the other on the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games, these stylish Gents merge pro-sport aesthetics and classic London design. The designers have given a nod both to British fashion’s mod heritage and the London 2012 Olympic Games logo by means of a two-toned palette that’s sporty on the one hand and elegance on the other.

It's kinda cool to see these watches back in the forefront after a brief hiatus of being out of the "popular" set. I can see the younger generation rocking these Swatches, alongside the jet set and extremely trendy adult group.

These watches retail for $60.00.

Do we like 'em? Are they fab or...not so much?

If you have known me for some time, then you know I was a diehard Blackberry fan for years. I had a RIM device for almost six years before I got fed up with its lack of effectiveness and went to an Android. I have had my Android for over a month and I absolutely love it, but one of its best features hands down is Swype.

What is Swype? It is an application (or already pre-installed app) on the Android that allows you to text and email more effectively. Instead of pecking the keys on the touchscreen, you "swype" the letters you want without even picking up your hand. In one stroke you can type out a word, making it a quick way to communicate. And the Swype feature seems to know automatically what you are trying to spell; if it doesn't, a drop down list of words will appear and you can select which word you want. So high tech and absolutely fabulous.

My friend Kesha told me about the Swype feature when I was in the deliberating process of whether or not I wanted to switch from Blackberry---she raved about it and it didn't seem like such a big deal then, but it totally is now. I LOVE IT!

If you have an Android phone and you do not already have the Swype app, you can get it for free in the Android Market.

The Android operating system is quickly becoming the most used and most favorable in terms of wireless phones. I am so loving my new #TeamAndroid lifestyle. :)

Do you Swype?

Editor's note: Chris P. just informed me that Swype is NOT available in the Android Market as I previously stated. If it's not preloaded on your phone, you can get the application here: http://swypeinc.com/index.html

So far, I can honestly say that my experience with the device has been amazing---it feels wonderful to be able to rely on a phone that can give me the same web I get while I am online on my PC. Plus the Android Market is killer---the apps I am able to have on this phone versus my Blackberry Bold are wonderful. Now, if I could just wean myself away from Blackberry mail.

Blackberry mail or Blackberry Enterprise Mail was the major reason why the phone dominated business users for so long---the ability to get your email as soon as the person presses send without having to rely on POP3 or push email is an absolute must when running your own business or utilizing your device for business purposes. My Android based phone has the option for me to add multiple email accounts that aren't web based accounts (ie Yahoo, Google, Hotmail et al), but it is lacking the speed of the Blackberry device. I'd say that I am receiving emails about five to seven minutes after they are received in my Microsoft Outlook inbox.

Does a five to seven minute delay really matter in the grand scheme of things? Possibly. There are times when I've received time sensitive information or an email about an opportunity or story that I need to respond to ASAP---or else. I would say that the email is the only thing that I miss about my Blackberry. Everything else is such an upgrade from my Bold.

So how do I wean myself from Blackberry mail? Well, I'm trying to only use my phone for "other" duties when I am at home and in front of my PC. Mail shouldn't really matter at that time because my Outlook is always open. When I'm out (as my friend @xdwebsolutions) so eloquently stated, "you won't know that you are getting your email late. When it arrives, it arrives."

So there you have it. When looking at it like that, it's easy breezy.

I thought I was going to experience major withdrawals from my old BB, but so far, I'm not missing it one bit. Despite the lag of email receipt on my new Android, it still trumps the Blackberry when it comes to overall useability.

Have you moved from BB to Android? Did you go through Blackberry mail withdrawals? Let's discuss!

As a Cubicle Chick and Digital Diva, I am always looking for great items that make my life easier. I recently had the opportunity to review the iMainGo Ultra Portable Stereo for the iPod and other mp3 players. It's cute, ready for being on the go, and is light!

Simply hook up your iPod or mp3 device to the iMainGo Ultra Portable Stereo and you are listening to the sounds on your device with quality speakers. According to the iPod Observer, "...the iMainGo is without a doubt the best ultra-portable speaker system..."

The iMainGo Ultra Portable Stereo works with the iPhone and all iPods (expect for the iPod Shuffle). It can also be used as a high power external stereo speaker system for any device with a 3.5mm connection including:

iPad

Cellphones

laptops

Kindle

gaming systems

electric guitar

It also works to protect your iPod or mp3 and can be used as a case. It has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and plug in charger included.

This is an awesome item!

I am giving away one (1) iMainGo Ultra Portable Stereo in the color pink to a lucky reader.
When it comes to reviewing and giving away items that are useful and helps make my life easier, I am all for it. Energizer is always on the forefront of creating items that help charge all of our devices, and the Energizer Recharge Smart is an item that I can no longer live without in my home.

This version of Energizer's Recharge Smart holds 4 rechargeable batteries (2 AA batteries or 4 AAA batteries), and it can charge these batteries up to 250 more times after the first initial use. It also lasts 4x's longer in most digital cameras, giving you maximum use while you take your pictures.

In my home, we use a lot of batteries for everything---remote controls, digital cameras, portable games, and other devices, so having something like this is a lifesaver. Plus, it's better on the environment; who wants to throw away a battery after one use?

What's also awesome about the Energizer Recharge Smart is it has a countdown timer letting you know how much time you have to wait before the battery is fully recharged. The battery fuel gauge also helps show you how much power a battery has, and there is also a bad battery alert to indicate when a battery has made it past its prime.

If you are a busy household, you need the Energizer Recharge Smart!

I am giving away one (1) of these devices to one lucky reader. To enter, all you have to do is follow me on Facebook and leave a comment below letting me know you've entered.

Simple and fun!

A winner will be announced on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Giveaway open to U.S. residents only, void where prohibited.

The Energizer Recharge Smart is available at most retail stores and discount outlets.

I, The Cubicle Chick, was given a device to review for this post at no charge. This did not shape my opinions or thoughts expressed in the review.

I am not ashamed to admit it---when it comes to smartphones, I am TeamBlackberry through and through. Blackberry's maker RIM (Research in Motion) has recently gone through a lot of havoc trying to compete with Apple's iPhone and the Android operating system, and many predict that the Canadian company will go by the wayside much the way Palm did. I, however, still love my Blackberry Bold 9700 despite the fact that it does have its issues from time-to-time. With the news that the Blackberry Playbook tablet will be released next month, many are wondering if this will save the company, or make RIM irrelevant amongst smartphones.

RIM has been reporting for several months that the Playbook tablet was ready for consumers, but only announced a true release date yesterday. Customers can now pre-order their Playbook tablet through Best Buy with a guaranteed delivery by date of 4/19. The device also hits stores on this date as well. The Playbook features a 7 inch screen, HD video and display, 4G speed, and is professional grade.

I have been wanting a tablet every since I took my trip to Atlanta a few weeks ago---my sister in travel LaKesha had a Motorola Xoom, which I fell in love with. I was actually thinking about purchasing a Samsung Galaxy tablet when news hit that the Playbook would finally be hitting the streets.

I am not a techie by any means, but I must have the Playbook. I am not ready to abandon my Blackberry yet, and the Playbook tablet looks like it will be a great companion to my Blackberry device.

What are your thoughts on RIM's Blackberry 4G Playbook Tablet?

ONLINE Elavil FOR SALE, I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked what a Cubicle Chick is. I always answer like this---it's a woman who juggles kids, buy generic Elavil, Elavil price, coupon, work, life, Elavil samples, Where to buy Elavil, and still remains fabulous doing so. And even when I break it down in those terms, japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, Buy cheap Elavil no rx, I still get a weird look by those who cannot understand or appreciate this concept.

So every once in awhile, buying Elavil online over the counter, Ordering Elavil online, I like to share with my readers my definition of a Cubicle Chick in the physical form. Talk show host, buy no prescription Elavil online, Elavil trusted pharmacy reviews, actress, wife, order Elavil from mexican pharmacy, Elavil from canadian pharmacy, and mom Kelly Ripa fits that description to a "t".

I have loved Kelly since she was on All My Children, ONLINE Elavil FOR SALE. And although I don't watch Regis and Kelly on a regular basis, order Elavil no prescription, Canada, mexico, india, when I catch her on other shows or venues, I make sure to tune in, real brand Elavil online. Comprar en línea Elavil, comprar Elavil baratos, Kelly seems to be a like a down-to-earth momma who does it all--top that with being glam and fab all of the time, and even when she is dressed down, buy Elavil from canada, Purchase Elavil, she makes heads turn.

What I enjoy most about Kelly Ripa is she seems to keep it real---no airs, order Elavil from United States pharmacy, Elavil gel, ointment, cream, pill, spray, continuous-release, extended-release, no pretensions. What you see is what you get, where can i order Elavil without prescription. ONLINE Elavil FOR SALE, Add to that how she gives back to the world is also something that makes her a class act. Purchase Elavil online no prescription, Here she is in action during the Electrolux Invites Moms And Daughters To Kelly Ripa's Tea Party For A Cause in NYC's Plaza Hotel in support of the Ovarian Cancer Fund on March 10th. I love the whole tea party concept, buy Elavil no prescription. Where to buy Elavil, It's fun for girls to bond over a cup of tea in a party atmosphere.
