As some of you may have noticed, I am kinda sorta addicted to attending conferences and events, especially those of the social media and blogging persuasion. Blogging and social media have become my passion and I enjoy gatherings that celebrate the genres as well as encourage learning, networking, and growth.

This year's WordCamp Chicago (this is the 3rd year) will take place Sat., July 30th and Sun., July 31st. The tracks I am most interested in attending are the ones that are geared to those of us who are using WordPress for our businesses, and of course getting better SEO results for the information on your blog.

It's important for us Cubicle Chicks and Dudes to be plugged in and aware of major events and happenings in our world. I have been a supporter and advocate of the NAACP for some time now, and their annual convention is taking place from July 23 to 28th in Los Angeles.

So if by chance you are following me on any of my various social networks, then you may have read that I am in the City of Angels for the Blogging While Brown conference. This conference celebrates bloggers of all races, spectrum, and colors in terms of social media and blogging.

The Internets are abuzz regarding tonight's BET Awards, and I have all of the red carpet pics of your favorite celebrities. Please bookmark this post or refresh often as I am updating this post with new pictures as I get them.

There is nothing like a good group of girlfriends to make your life complete. Your girls are your rock when you need some strength, a shoulder to cry on when you get down in the dumps, and lend a listening ear when something is heavy on your heart.

I was recently contacted by Walmart about a new exhibit they are sponsoring at the museum called American I Am: The African American Imprint, which opened here on May 28th. The event is presented by national pundit and author Tavis Smiley, and "celebrates the African American contributions to the United States".

Attending the conference is just one aspect of networking; once the conference is over and you go home, the real work begins.

Macy's has always been in the forefront when it comes to helping women find their beauty by offering a variety of products that cater to women of all skin colors. This Saturday (May 22) in St. Clair, Illinois (St. Louis), Macy's will be having a fabulous event at St. Clair Square "that will inspire you to be your best on the inside and out".

Don't you just love this place? As I blogged a few weeks ago, I am in Miami this weekend for the Shecon New Media Expo which is taking over South Beach. I am so excited to attend this conference as well as getting the opportunity to meet other bloggers and social media folk that I have been corresponding with online for some time now. And the schedule of presentations and speakers is outstanding! This is a must attend event for sure.

Last month, I appealed to you to vote for me for the 2011 Black Weblog Award for Best Lifestyle Blog. And you guys heeded my cries because I received word on Monday that The Cubicle Chick is one of five finalists for that Lifestyle Blog category. I appreciate everyone who took the time to nominate me, and now the voting process has officially begun.

Happy Mother's Day to all of my readers who are mothers, Grandmothers, Godmothers, Aunts, and/or mother figures. We birth the world and prepare the next generation for greatness. Make sure that you tell your mother that you love her today and show her your gratitude!

As a parent of two, the educational process is most important to me. The schools and teachers in which I entrust my children with play a pivotal role in the development and future of my kids, and I do my best to show my appreciation to those that teach my children on a daily basis.

Last night, all of Washington and most of Hollywood turned out to the 2011 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in D.C. If you saw it, you got to witness President Barack Obama finally poking a little fun at Donald Trump and his "birther" friends.

I swore I wasn't going get up at the crack of dawn to watch the Royal Wedding live. But I guess my curiosity got the best of me, so at 4:50, I clicked on the Boob Tube and fired up my social networks to celebrate this event with my friends and tweeps.
