18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet Photo Rundown

The awards season is now in full swing as the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (or SAGs) were held last night in Los Angeles. While the SAG Awards are not the most prominent awards of the season, it is definitely an opportunity for the stars to bring out their most fabulous looks for the red carpet. Big winners last night were Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis from The Help, ABC's Modern Family for Best Cast, and Kate Winslet for Mildred Pierce. Michelle Obama’s Designer, Jason Wu, Readies Line for Target

January 2009 was such a momentous time for our country as President Obama was sworn in as our leader and chief. First Lady Michelle turned heads later that evening with her oh so fabulous gown, which was created by a little-known designer by the name of Jason Wu, and a star was born. Everyone wanted to know who styled the frock, a one shoulder cream confection complete with tulle and embellishments. She was a stunner, and Jason Wu became a man discussed around fashionable circles. He was now the IT boy. Fast forward three years and Wu is readying his first line, Jason Wu for Target. Target has really been able to grasp the high fashion consumer by offering Missoni by Target, which flew off the shelves and off of their website. Jason Wu is hoping that the trend continues and his line will be a popular staple in the store and online. According to USA Today:

The Target (Jason Wu) collection, which features women's apparel, handbags and scarves, includes A-line dresses, tie-waist shifts and high-waisted skirts. While Wu's runway designs can sell for thousands of dollars, each piece in his Target collection is under .

So for us fabulous chicks that can't spend thousands on designer duds, Target and Jason Wu are keeping us fashionable yet affordable. I likes! Fashion Fab: Swatch Remixes Watches for 2012 Olympic Games in London

As a tween and teen in the late 80's (no laughs please), I was knee deep in Guess acid washed jeans and overalls as well as Coca Cola sweaters, slouch socks, and Keds shoes. I also was fascinated with Swatch watches, fashionable and fun watches that came in bright colors and styles. You weren't cool unless you rocked a Swatch watch, and I had three of them and would wear them all at the same time. Shameful, I know, but it was the 80's! Swatch is still on the scene and never really went away, even though in the U.S., they haven't been a part of our current pop culture. Overseas, however, Swatch is still pretty popular, and they have released a collection of watches that celebrate the 2012 Olympic games in London. Mod, bright, and totally interesting, this collection of Gents Originals Swatch Watches are definitely a conversation piece.

Who says you have to spend a lot of dough in order to look fabulous? Hopefully most of you don't believe that spending more means equals fabulous-ness. Because if you did, then you are surely mistaken. Fashion doesn't have to cost a lot of money---in fact, spending more than you have to on clothes is no longer necessary. searsStyle is making it easy to look fly and fab without draining your bank account. My Splurge vs. Steal is a perfect outfit to wear to a party or event. I dressed it up with a nice silver blouse, tights, and wedges, but you can also dress it down by wearing the skirt with ballet flats and a basic shirt. There are so many options! The Cube Style Icon: Natalie Wood

The first time I saw Natalie Wood in a film, I was a junior in high school, and we were forced to watch West Side Story in drama class. She was simply stunning, her beauty almost looked too massive to be seen on the less than stellar school TV on rollers. Her eyes danced and swayed and she talked, her skin flawless, and her cheekbones were like a work of art. Later that year, I watched her in another film, Splendor in the Grass, opposite Warren Beatty, and became captivated. Such a fabulous woman, and such a tragic story! Last month, officials in Los Angeles reopened the case surrounding her death, and Natalie has been catapulted back into the mainframe of pop culture. She was such an amazing woman who was gone too soon, but still manages to live on in film. Here is my photo homage to Natalie Wood, my Hollywood heroine and a glamorous chanteuse.

Italian Fashion House Marni to Design Spring Collection for H&M

Earlier this fall, Target debuted an impressive line from Missoni in their stores and online offerings, and H&M also recently released a line of clothing from fabulous designer, Versace. H&M continues in this tradition of partnering with top designers such as Jimmy Choo by announcing that they are working with Italian brand Marni on a spring line that will be unveiled next year. Per press release:

H&M is proud to announce a spring designer collaboration with the Italian brand Marni. Famed for its original prints and inventive spirit, Marni is one of fashion’s most-loved labels, and its founder and creative director, Consuelo Castiglioni, has created a spring collection for H&M for both women and men that captures the essence of Marni. Available from March 8, 2012 in over 250 stores worldwide and online, the collection features both clothing and accessories, all at H&M’s prices, allowing everyone the chance to enter Marni’s world.

Marni's prints and themes are bold and graphic and are definitely not boring. From what I have seen of the pictures provided to me of the line so far, they are fashion worthy in a good way. But H&M does have a tendency to try to blend fabulous high priced lines into their affordable wears, which comes off inauthentic and sometimes cheap. When the new Versace for H&M line was unveiled earlier this month, it did so to mixed reviews. Many people (including myself) felt like it left a little to be desired. Waiting to buy a real Versace piece when I could afford it would be better than wearing one made for H&M. Patience is indeed a virtue. But then again, Target proved with Missoni that you can bring high fashion and make it afforable without damaging the brand. I am hoping that with Marni, H&M can capture that as well. Last night's 2011 American Music Awards was all about lip synching, Spanx, Fiats, delusions of grandeur, and every once in awhile, good music. While the AMA's isn't one of my favorite award shows, it does bring some entertainment value. Not sure why Nicki Minaj received several standing O's and Taylor Swift beat out Adele for Album of the Year, but it was a fun time looking at the awards and tweeting with others who were also watching. I don't do a lot of shopping at Ann Taylor, but when I have purchased items from them, I love their attention to details and to service.
