Yesterday, I felt it all coming to a head as I actually zoned out and cried. I didn't cry because I was sad or because I live a non-wonderful life. I cried because I needed to release and hadn't done so in quite some time.

When someone comes along and says, "great job" or "I like what you do", it can do wonders for morale and for business. But when does all of those pats on the back and wonderful accolades go to your head and get in the way of your success?

When my dad was in the hospital several weeks ago, I was asked if he had a Living Will. I had no idea what a Living Will was or the importance of having one. I knew what a Last Will in Testament was and knew that my father had one in place, but even he was perplexed when the nurse questioned him about having a Living Will.

When I was little, I thought that being an only child was the most awesome thing in the world. I didn't have to vie for the attention of my parents and I was spoiled beyond belief.

What started out as what we thought was a virus ended up being much more serious because his diabetes went into overdrive. Once the paramedics were on site, we found out that his blood sugar was 500+ (more than their equipment could read), and his heart rate and blood pressure were through the roof.

For most of my adult life, I have been #teamlonghair. Maybe it because I felt that society pressured me to keep it that way. Or maybe it was because I have a chubby face and always tried to hide it behind long hair.

When I walk into a room, my head is usually held high. I usually am strong with my eye contact and handshakes. I am not a wallflower---people perceive this to be a brash, no nonsense woman, but I am far from that.

I am not a very happy camper right now. After months of downtime on my site and email with Surpass Hosting, they finally determined that they needed to switch my shared server to another machine.

And as many times as I have traveled, I have never felt guilty about it until now. It could be that I have been on three business trips since the beginning of the year and we are only in February. Or it could be that missing being here on my daughter's actual birthday was enough to bring everything into perspective.

It comes in spurts---I will be watching television and see a precious baby which makes me ooh and aww. Or I will sit and remember how my son used to scoot on the floor before he started walking or how my daughter couldn't go anywhere without people fawning over her in her stroller.

The dictionary defines the term ah-ha moment as, "an instant at which the solution to a problem becomes clear". It's as if something clicks within your mind and suddenly things are more in focus than they ever were before.

But who would've thought that I myself would be up for an award of my own? I guess that is indeed the case, because a bunch of my Kool-aid drinkers went and voted for moi for the 1st ever RFT Web Awards a few weeks ago

In my quest to go natural (and it's been a long quest, let me tell you...I've relapsed with a relaxer twice!), I have decided to get braids to give me hair a rest during the in between stage it goes through from relaxer to natural.
