I have gone on record noting that my baby days are behind me. But every once in awhile, I get the familiar twinge of baby-itis, especially when I see a cute little baby, or one of my friends or relatives is expecting. What’s not to love about a new bundle of joy?

A few days ago, actress, television personality, reality star and the other half of the fabulous Tia and Tamera combo tweeted a photo of her growing baby bump. Tamera announced a few months ago that she was pregnant with her first child, which we now know is a boy. Her twin sister, Tia Mowry Hardict gave birth to her son, Cree, last year, and it was documented on the first season of their successful reality show, Tia and Tamera. Their second season began earlier this week on the Style Network.

Seeing the tweet of Tamera resplendent in all of her baby glory, glowing, and fabulous, made me feel a twinge of the baby-itis. At 36, I am not too over the hill to have a little one. But it may be a little awkward since I have a 18 year old who just graduated from high school and an 8 year old. Starting over again with a little baby isn’t something that I want to do—or is it? Last year, I even blogged about my wanting to possibly have another baby.

Of course, celebrities make having a baby looks so fabulous—and the rest of us know that isn’t the case. Most of us don’t have nannies, personal chefs, assistants, personal trainers, and all of the other fixins to make motherhood look so effortless and glamorous. And yet, we manage to do it just fine without the all of the bells and whistles.

So, yes I have baby fever—but I am sure it will be short lived. With all of the traveling that I do, as well as the hectic schedule I maintain, I don’t know how a baby would fit into all of that.

I do congratulate Tamera on her pregnancy and wish her and her husband the best. Motherhood is an amazing gift and blessing.

What do you think of Tamera Mowry-Housley’s pregnancy fabulousness?

ABC News alongside the UN Foundation has launched the Million Moms Challenge, an initiative “that hopes to build a vibrant community that connects moms everywhere around things all mothers care about: the right nutrition to support their pregnancies, trained midwives to assist in safe deliveries of newborns, and vaccines that allow children to survive to celebrate their first birthdays and beyond”.

The challenge will be a part of weekly segments on ABC News, Good Morning America, World News with Diane Sawyer, Nightline, and 20/20, and will share stories of moms from all over the globe. Content on the Million Moms Challenge website “will provide a live, interactive forum for some of the nation’s top mom bloggers to share their stories and ideas through blogs and video posts in real time with moms and midwives in the developing world”.

The focus of the challenge will be on proper healthcare before, during, and after pregnancy as the baby grows and develops.

You can become a part of the Million Moms Challenge movement by signing up for the challenge on their Facebook page.

Johnson and Johnson will also donate $100,000 to organizations helping moms and babies across the world.

My daughter at 2

My little Princess turns seven tomorrow. Boy, how time flies. But enough about that. Lately, I have been getting the baby itch. I have several girlfriends who are either pregnant or just had a baby recently. And they look awesomely cute and cuddly, I could just bite them. And I start to reminisce on the days when my son and my daughter were babies (some 16 and 7 years ago), and I begin to feel that internal clock ticking as I begin to long for another baby.

It comes in spurts—I will be watching television and see a precious baby which makes me ooh and aww. Or I will sit and remember how my son used to scoot on the floor before he started walking or how my daughter couldn’t go anywhere without people fawning over her in her stroller. The late night bottle feedings when I would sing for them or give them a bath in the sink (yes, you read right, the sink)—I miss all of that.

At 35 years of age, I pretty much feel like it’s over for my womb. But I also know that if I really wanted to, it wouldn’t be too late for me to conceive without a problem. I go back and forth as to whether I want to go for another one or not—when I think of the challenge of me being able to travel for opportunities and appearances, I tend to think having a little one wouldn’t be good for my career. But when I think of trying to have just one more to complete my family, I get a little emotional. When I had my son, it was 10 years before I had another child. And now it would be 7 to 8 years between another child so….I haven’t a clue what to do.

This all could be hormones and simply nothing else. Or it could be a true and intense desire to try for mommyhood again.

I love the freedom that I have now. But I also love being a mom.
