One of my New Year's Resolutions was to pay more attention to the money I spend and budget more wisely. One of the things I dislike the most is spending tons of money on a beauty product only to get it home and find out I don't like it and never use it again. ...

I am not a hairy girl by any stretch of the imagination, but shaving my legs and underarms every week can be monotonous as well as time consuming. So I was all game to visit St. Louis Laser and Vein Center for a treatment, but was kind of scared of the thought of having a laser remove hair on me. ...

TweetThanksgiving is usually a busy holiday for us all—with the stuffing of the bird and all of the preparation that goes into making the holiday one to remember, we often forget to take care of ourselves; either that or we run out of time to do so. I have learned early in my stages of motherhood that when we neglect ourselves, we do our family and loved ones a disservice because we can’t be wonderful to others if we aren’t wonderful for ourselves. So I invented a personalized Thanksgiving Eve Beauty Routine that I use every year (I also use a version of this at Christmas as well) to help me feel luxurious right before the holiday. Here’s the steps to the routine: Step #1: Notify your family that you are indulging in a stress free beauty treatment and you are not to be disturbed at all. Use a cute ...

TweetHonestly when The Cubicle Chick asked me to do a guest post about the five products that had changed (revolutionized) my life, I could only think of 1 off the top of my head: shea. butter. Wait, let me start from the beginning, where are my manners? Hi everyone, my name is Roshini a.k.a. ini a.k.a. Glamazini and I author a blog and produce YouTube videos about my natural hair journey [ini curtsies]. I’ve been natural for 8 years and counting (with a couple failed attempts prior to it sticking) and have had a website/blog for the same length of time … about … my hair. So as you can see, I’ve had ample time to try a LOT of products and can freely admit now (after years of therapy & light medication) that I am a fully recovered “product junkie”. So with no further adieu [cue triumphant music] here ...

TweetI was reading my dear friend Glamazini’s blog and she had a post about “The silliest thing I’ve ever done to my head was…” and it got me to thinking. There are many things that I have done in my life that I’ve looked back on and said why in the hell did I do that? So thanks to my friend, I came up with a twist on her concept called “The Worst _________ I’ve Ever Had”. It will be an ongoing series on TCC in which I will discuss the worst (whatever I come up with) for that we and then you all can comment and share! This week, we are going to talk about “The Worst Beauty Decisions” I’ve Ever Had. As you know, I am a Cubicle Chick who likes to look fab so I have had my share of beauty faux pas in my past. Let ...

TweetMost of you have heard about the woman who lost her job because she felt she looked too good and caused too much of a stir with the males at the bank she was employed with. As silly as this may sound (and shallow as well), this does happen in the workplace. As a former HR manager, I was privy to a situation in which a colleague was asked not to wear her hair down because it made her look “too exotic” and caused chaos in the office. The “I look too fabulous for my job” situation is indeed real. In corporate entities, sticking out is not a good thing. Being too beautiful, or too handsome can sometimes be a burdensome reality that has to be dealt with. When interviewing for key positions, the young and beautiful have to sometimes hide this in order to be taken seriously. Why beauty ...
