It was one of the first magazines I subscribed to as a teenager, and I still continue to read the publication for tips, articles, and information that shape my generation. Each year, Glamour unveils its Women of the Year issue that honors several women, famous and not so famous, who are doing extraordinary things. The issue is celebrated with a fabulous fete complete with red carpet, awards, and star treatment. This year’s Glamour Women of the Year event was held at Carnegie Hall in New York last night and was a star studded affair of women, from different ethnicities and sporting many hues, gathering to celebrate one another. My grandmother was a stallion in her day, with her cafe au lait skin which was smooth as homemade butter, radiant eyes, flamboyant clothing, and radiant looks. You could call me a Presidential groupie if you want (no Monica Lewinsky) but I heart Mrs. Obama and her equally fabulous husband. She is the epitome of style, poise, grace, and intelligence and she does it so effortlessly, I am simply in awe. Of course, who else would Glamour choose as one of their Women of the Year? Michelle has crossed every boundary imaginable as her and husband has risen to unthinkable heights as the first black Mr. and Mrs. to run the White House.
