When it comes to awards shows that are fun and unfiltered, the MTV Movie Awards are the epitome of that description. Honoring all that is fun and fab in movies, the MTV Movie Awards are more about shocking and awing than celebrating real movie cinema; but that’s okay because MTV never takes itself too seriously. Which is why a lot of people like to watch and see what happens.

And we all know that it’s the red carpet that is mostly what we pay the most attention to; who is wearing what, how they are wearing it, and yes, in some instances, WHY are they wearing it? If the Oscars are where the best dressed play, then the MTV Awards are where the creatives come to get some attention.

The 85th Annual Academy Awards is officially a wrap, but that doesn’t mean the party is over. The day after the Oscars are just as fun, because pundits like myself have had a moment to officially digest the show and pick out our hits and misses on the red carpet. The Academy Awards are all about high glamour, ultimate fashion, and amazing style. And while not everyone wowed us, there are certainly plenty who ruled that red carpet.

So, without further adieu, here we go!

5 Most Fabulous on the 2013 Oscar Red Carpet:

5. Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman ended up on a lot of Worst Dressed Lists today, but I think that she looked gorgeous in this L’Wren Scott gown. The Oscars aren’t about playing it safe—we want haute couture with wow factor, and Nicole certainly brought that to the Oscar red carpet last night.

4. Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington is always one of my favorites on the red carpet. She can do no wrong. Kerry chose to wear another Miu Miu number, this time a strapless melon colored gown with train. The end result was hauteness.

3. Jennifer Lawrence

It was definitely Jennifer Lawrence’s night as she snagged the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook. And even despite a fall walking up the steps to get her Oscar statue, she still remained beautiful in her Dior Couture gown.

2. Jessica Chastain

When I first saw Jessica Chastain on the red carpet, I was speechless. Yes, the nude colored gown wasn’t what I would’ve chosen for her, but the whole package with the gown, the curves, the hair, and that red lippy gave me life. I simply thought she looked like perfection.

1. Charlize Theron

Charlize is my fashion muse. She always gets it right on the red carpet and last night was no exception. She stunned in a white Dior Couture number with form bodice and long skirt. Her short hair and natural makeup made her look like a goddess on the red carpet. Well done, Charlize!

Award season is in full swing as the 55th Annual Grammy Awards took place last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. I didn’t get to catch the full show since I am in Washington, D.C. for Shot@Life (more on that later), but I did get to watch the last hour or so with some pretty fab performances by Maroon 5, Alicia Keys, and Rihanna.

Much was talked about before the Grammy’s about a list of “fashion standards and practices” CBS sent out to the artists and guests attending the ceremony. Because of heavy fines and such by the FCC, CBS seems to be trying to clamp down on how scantily clad an artist can be on live television.

None of that seemed to matter last night as music’s best came out to be honored, entertained, and acknowledged. Winners for the evening included Miguel, Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, and more!

Last night, the 19th Annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards were in full effect. The SAG Awards are pretty special to the actors because they are voted on by other SAG actors. The SAG card is a right of passage for most actors, and allows them union type of protection and perks such as health insurance, dental, etc. For big actors, that isn’t a huge deal, but for those actors who are struggling trying to make ends meet, being a SAG member is a pretty huge feat.

The red carpet last night was full of fabulousness. We saw a lot of black and white, side parts, updo’s, and texture. The SAG Awards aren’t the most prestigious during the award season, but I was impressed with many of the looks I saw on the red carpet.

Here are my SAG Awards’ 5 Most Fab of the Night:

5. Teyonah Parris

Teyonah was breathtaking in a purple (lilac I’m told) Monique Lhuillier textured gown with halter neckline. I loved this look on Teyonah, and was enamored by her natural hair, which was fashioned in a haute updo. Teyonah is an actress who you may have seen on Mad Men or in a McDonald’s commercial airing nationwide. I hope to see big things from her!

4. Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain can do no wrong these days. First she wowed us in The Help, and now has been nominated for all types of awards for her performance in Zero Dark Thirty. Jessica’s red hair complimented this scarlet red gown from Alexander McQueen showing off her fab figure. Her makeup was simple and toned down, but I think it really worked to her favor.

3. Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington is my girl crush. I have loved her since I saw her in Save the Last Dance years ago. Kerry is now making her mark as Olivia Pope on ABC’s Scandal, and is getting all types of praises. Her look for the evening was designed by Rodarte in what she calls, “Olivia Pope White”. I like the two-piece effect of her look with the jeweled corset top and flowing skirt. Well done, Kerry!

2. Amanda Seyfried

Amanda claims that she doesn’t know that much about fashion, but I can’t tell. She wore a dream of a strapless gown by Zac Posen, in a brilliant dark blue color with layered train. Another trend of the evening, side-parted hair, completed the look with a natural smoky eye. Perfection!

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence graced the red carpet with walking pneumonia, but still ended up looking the most fab of the night! The Silver Linings Playbook actress looked stunning and radiant in a Dior Couture gown. So haute!

The 70th Annual Golden Globes did not disappoint. There was plenty of entertaining moments that kept me interested throughout the entire 3 hour telecast, and I think that co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did a fabulous job. But what people will be discussing in the next few days to come is who rocked the Golden Globe red carpet fabulously and well, who didn’t.

Not one to focus on the negative, I always select my 5 most fabulous best dressed looks on the red carpet. So without further adieu, here was my selections:

5. Jessica Alba

Jessica’s peach confection of a dress was simply stunning. It complemented her figure and her skin tone, and even looked more gorgeous on television than it did in pictures. Jessica definitely brought her A-game to the 2013 Golden Globe red carpet.

5. (Tie) Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is showing us why she isn’t a little girl anymore. She vamped it up with a beautiful chocolate hued gown by Donna Karan, looking quite svelte and very adult like. I have to give props where props are due, and Taylor gave us the WOW factor, indeed.

4. Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson slayed this look from Alexander McQueen. The form of the dress worked with it’s sleek lines, gold embellishments, and deep keyhole cut-out. Love this look!

3. Meagan Fox

Meagan Fox will never be Angelina Jolie, but that doesn’t matter. In this Dolce and Gabbana number, Meagan made sure all eyes were on her. I love this dress and the way it enhanced her curves. Gorgeous!

2. Anne Hathaway

Anne can do no wrong. With her edgy haircut and slim physique, she personifies true Hollywood glamour. Her dress for the 2013 Golden Globes truly represented everything she has become—a style and fashion goddess. Love, love, love her!

1. Naomi Watts

I predicted that the 70th Annual Golden Globes would return to old Hollywood glamour, I had no idea that one star in particular would hit it out of the park. Naomi Watts looked amazing in an oxblood hued gown with resplendent train, shoulder pads, and keyhole neckline. Fab jewels and an updo capped off her look, which was GORGEOUS! Well done, Naomi!

Fashionistas unite! The fashion world’s version of the playoffs for Super Bowl is upon us. Awards season draweth nigh! Set your DVR, stock up on the microwave popcorn and hide the remote from your husband. It’s time to watch Hollywood stars pucker, primp and dress to impress.

In January and February, there are at least 7 awards shows celebrating the achievements of Hollywood’s movie industry.  The big four are The Golden Globes on Sunday 1/13 (read our predictions HERE), The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday 1/27, Grammy Awards on 2/10, and the granddaddy of all awards shows, The Academy Awards on Sunday 2/24.

As Hollywood takes a few weeks to pat themselves on the back for a job well done, both starlets and veteran actresses train like marines in boot camp to prepare for their big Hollywood close up.

So, are you wondering why anyone should care so passionately about these Hollywood award shows? Well, it’s all about the fashion, hunny!

No one can deny that celebs play a huge role in setting the pace for what’s hot and what’s not. What an actress wears on awards night can make or break her future career options.  Who can forget Jennifer Lopez’s floral Versace stunner at the 2000 Grammy’s or Halle Berry’s barely there dress at the 2002 Oscars?  Celebs don’t wield the same sway as the stars of old, but today’s celebs still influence most of us whether we like to admit it or not.  The twist is that today, the celebs also reflect the masses and then add their own flavor.

Trend Watch

When you watch the awards shows, try to spot the trends.  That’s the fun part! Be sure to scrutinize colors, dress lengths, hair, jewelry, accessories, lip colors, eyes and shoes.  Do you remember the bright, neon colors, bare décolleté and long, dropped earrings at the September 2012 Emmy Awards? Those bright colors were a bit of a revolt against the black, red and off-white many celebs wore on the red carpet earlier in 2012 at the Globes, SAG and Academy Awards.  It’s anyone’s guess what trends the celebs will embrace this year, but we predict a return to classic Hollywood glamour complete with bold, red lips, pin curls and soft waves, updos, beaded gowns, and neutral palettes.

Although last year’s choices were quite lovely, I predict you won’t see much black, off-white and red this year on the red carpet.  Instead of “playing it safe” like last year, I expect the stars to explode with color and shimmer brightly on the red carpet.

Yay for awards season. Hollywood was in full effect last night for the 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The awards, which are bestowed upon those celebrities that are voted on by the people, are one of the first awards shows to usher in the award season.

Fashion wise, I can say that while going through the pictures, there were a few people who impressed me in terms of their looks. I was a bit disappointed overall in the lack of fabulosity from last night’s red carpet, but I am thinking that everyone is saving their A game for the Golden Globes, which take place this Sunday.

The post 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards Red Carpet Rundown Photos appeared first on The Cubicle Chick.

As a red carpet enthusiast and award show addict, I am so looking forward to the first big awards show of the season. The Golden Globes have always been one of my favorite award shows because of it’s candor, table seating (which makes it look more authentic and genuine), and non-stodgy or stuffy hosts and schedule. At the Golden Globes, celebrities and Hollywood elite (and hangers on) sip their Moet at the table, laugh it up with their costars and have a jolly ole time. If they are tense, us viewers don’t see it. Blame it on the alcohol.

This year’s Golden Globes will be hosted by two funny ladies, and THAT is what I looking forward to the most. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are funny as hell, and I hope they will bring their A game for the evening. There’s a lot of stiff competition in many of the categories, and it will be interested to see who comes out the winner—it’s anyone’s guess. But here are my predictions for who will be bringing the Golden Globe home.

Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical:

Although I loved me some Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables, I think the award will go to Bill Murray for Hyde Park on the Hudson. The Hollywood Foreign Press likes to root for the underdog, so I’m thinking Bill will be triumphant.

Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical:

2012 was Jennifer Lawrence’s year. I predict a win for her for Silver Linings Playbook.

Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama:

My heart would love to see Denzel win for this performance in Flight. I loved this movie! But I think it will go to Daniel Day Louis who gave an epic performance in Lincoln. If you didn’t see it, you should. It is an amazing piece of cinema.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama:

This is a tight race but I think that Naomi Watts will win for her role in The Impossible. This would be an upset for Helen Mirren, who I heard was stellar in Hitchcock.

Best Animated Featured:

Pixar’s Brave will be take home the award.

Best Performance by An Actor in a Supporting Role:

I have to go for Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained. He made this film, and his performance was extraordinary.

Best Performance by An Actress in a Supporting Role:

Anne Hathaway will win this award for her performance in Les Miserables. And rightfully so.

Best Motion Picture, Drama:

I think Lincoln will be the victor in this category although personally, I believe Django Unchained was the better of the films in this category.

Best Motion Picture, Comedy of Musical:

Les Miserables. Enough said.

Best Director Motion Picture:

This is a tight freaking category. I think it’s a toss up between Ben Affleck for Argo and Steven Spielberg for Lincoln. (Quentin, in my book is more deserving, but this article is about who I predict will win).

Best Screenplay:

I think Quentin Tarantino will win this category.

Best Television Series, Drama:

I would love to see The Newsroom win, but I think it will go to Downton Abby, Season 2.

Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical:

Modern Family. Like, why would anyone else win?

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama:

I only watch one of these shoes in this category on a regular basis (Nashville), and I don’t think Connie Britton will take it. I believe Julianna Margulies has it in the bag.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama:

Jeff Daniels in Newsroom was the best of television right there. I think he will get the nod.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical:

Tina Fey, 30 Rock. Why? I think she is the most likeable. I don’t watch any of the shows in this category.

Best Performance by  an Actor in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical:

Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock. See my reason from the previous category.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television:

Maggie Smith, Downton Abby, Season 2. This show is all everyone talks about, so, I’m pretty sure Maggie (deserving so) will come out the winner.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television:

Ed Harris, Game Change. Brilliant!
