Apparently having “a bad day”, Slater slings a set of expletives at a passenger whose luggage hit him in the head and then proceeded to get on the loud speaker and curse everyone on the plane out. As a “dueces” to the people on the plane and his job, Slater grabs a beer and utilizes the plane’s emergency exit chute and makes his getaway to his car. I guess he thought he was going to ride off into the sunset? WRONG. Slater was later arrested at his home in Queens and was charged with criminal mischief, trespassing, and reckless endangerment. He has a rap sheet now, but as I read tweets last night from people who were discussing the matter, it seems that he is a sort of hero amongst many working people who love the fact ...

She was asking because she felt her privacy had been violated due to the fact that her boss read all of her “personal” emails on the laptop she used for company business. Apparently she had synched her private mail account into her Outlook, which also served as the host of her business mail account. When she went on vacation and left the laptop with her boss, her boss went through the contents and read several emails which we explicit in nature and time stamped during company time. The reader wanted to sue. My answer? There is no such thing as privacy at work. Especially when you are using company equipment on company time for personal ...

She was in charge of the customer service side, he was in charge of the sales side. From the outside looking in, this was a happy marriage of both love and work, but as a manager, I saw the scars working together had left on their marriage. To most of the employees who were on the frontline, they had the dream life. But to myself and others who were privy to the behind-the-scenes drama, it was anything but. Working with your loved ones has it’s pros and cons. I have never worked professionally with someone I was dating, but I have worked with relatives. I actually ...

He was a computer systems analyst consultant (fancy word for data programmer) and worked in an office in downtown Phoenix with rows of complex machines and computers. I would sit down with him at the desk next to him and would marvel as he worked. Occasionally, he would have me help him by handing him materials or retrieving things from the fax machine or copier. I really thought I was doing something back then, and at the end of the work shift, he always treated me to a good meal and gave me $5 for my hard work. I grew up knowing how hard my father worked to provide for my family. Taking those work visits made me see firsthand that my father’s ...

Here are five things you can do to disconnect from the office and leave the work where it should be—at your desk at the workplace: Turn Off The Smartphone Turn off the Blackberry, point blank. When office hours are closed, then you should be too, UNLESS your job requires you to be on call 24/7. If you are an Executive, you should have a phone for personal and a phone for work, and the work phone shouldn’t be used after hours unless in an emergency. Turning off the smartphone and disconnecting from the emails and texts and other work stuff will allow you time to unwind without being stressed out. You deserve that! Do Not Reply To Emails Unless there is a catastrophic emergency ...
