February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Take this survey (link in bio) for the chance to win 1 of 5 $100 VISA gift cards—takes less than 10 minutes.

Introducing ‘The Blogging Chicks’: Taking My Brand to New Heights

I cannot believe it has almost been a year since TheCubicleChick.com was officially launched. I have worked really hard this year, specifically on my brand and making a mark in social media and networking. As you know, I befriended a fellow blogger last year, Jessica, aka That Tech Chick, and we began a travel blogging series under the “The Traveling Chicks” moniker since we are both chicks and like to travel. But during our trip to Chicago last week, we decided that we needed to extend our sites and create one internet hub where we could focus on our travel, our similarities, and our differences.

TheBloggingChicks.com is official!

On the site, we will be discussing at length our travel adventures, as well as our takes on certain issues and subjects. The site is a portal that the two of us can extend our brands and our blogs, but make an imprint together as two chicks who are moms and like to go to different destinations and learn and grow.

I hope that you join us over at TheBloggingChicks for another view at our personalities. You can also follow us on Twitter under @BloggingChicks.

I appreciate all of the support you guys have shown as I began another project with my business partner who is also a great friend.

We are looking for sponsors for our next trip, so if you are interested or know of someone who is, please leave us a comment. You can also mail us at contact (at) thebloggingchicks (dot) com.

We are just getting started!

That’s great! I have heard about BWB but didn’t know when I would be able to attend because of $$$. I’m trying to save because I am contemplating a career change and I know I may have to take a pay cut. BTW – what’s your advice on making a career change? Or if you already have a post on that can you please give me a link to that post?

I haven’t written about that specifically on this blog, however, I do write a column on YBPGuide.com which has something similar. I will shoot you a link tomorrow.
