February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Take this survey (link in bio) for the chance to win 1 of 5 $100 VISA gift cards—takes less than 10 minutes.

Thanks, @mediqcme, and Duke Heart. Supported by an educational grant from the Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer Alliance.

Natural Beauty Giveaway: Win a $20 Sénica Natural Gift Card

How do I love thee, let me count the ways.

I am so excited about this giveaway, I am jumping out of my chair just writing this.

First of all, I am a champion of small businesses. As an entrepreneur myself, I like to patronize others who are working for themselves. It’s that spirit that helps mold a nation! I was contacted by Benardett from  Sénica a few weeks ago via my colleague and friend, Glamazini, to try out their products and run a review and giveaway on my site. After taking one look at Sénica’s website and hearing my friend go on and on about how awesome they were, I was pretty excited to try them out.

Sénica is an up and coming beauty brand that celebrates a Natural. Beautiful. You. Sénica specializes in natural products for bath, body, hair and home.

I was given a variety of items to choose from, but decided on Sénica Brown Sugar Body Scrubs. Despite the humid temperatures outside, my skin is still dry in some parts and I am all about getting rid of access skin for a smoother look. I followed the directions on he packaging and after taking my shower, I felt like a new woman.

When I say that I felt luxurious, fabulous, and oh so smooth, would be an understatement. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

The Brown Sugar Scrubs that I tried were Sweetness and Lanbeli. They are all natural and sold in 4 oz containers, and cost. Well worth the investment, I’d say. I was also sent a few more items including a sample of their Senk Shampoo Bar. I haven’t had a chance to use that yet, but will be trying it out on my next shampoo.

I highly recommend Sénica and feel every woman should be subjected to the luxe experience that I have showering with my Brown Sugar Scrubs.

Now, here’s the hotness: For Day #5 of my ‘7 Days of Giveaways’, I am giving away a $20 Sénica Natural gift card, that will allow you to purchase items from their website.

To enter to win, you must:

  • Follow me on Facebook
  • Follow  Sénica on Facebook
  • Subscribe to Sénica’s You Tube page
  • Visit their website and comment below, letting me know what you plan to get with your gift card if you win

This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only, void where prohibited. This giveaway will end on Friday, July 27th at 6pm CST. One (1) winner will be selected at random and will be announced on my Facebook page. The winner will have 48 hours to claim their prize or another winner will be selected.

But I’m not done! Plus, The Cubicle Chick readers save 15% any e-boutique order with coupon code TCC12. Valid through 8/15/12.

What would you buy with a Sénica Gift Card?

Disclaimer: I, The Cubicle Chick, received items at no charge in exchange for a review on my site. This is not a sponsored or compensated post. As always, the opinions expresses above are mine.
