Reel Review: 5 Reasons Why You Should Take Your Child to Smurfs 2

I received an invite to attend a premiere of the new Smurfs 2 movie, but had to turn it down because it was occurring while I would be in Chicago for BlogHer. After talking it over with my nine year old daughter, she decided that she wanted to go and take her dad with her so she could review the movie for me. I love how her mind works!

5 Reasons Why You Should Take Your Child to Smurfs 2

So last Sunday, she attended the screening with her dad as her date, and they both covered the blue carpet event in my absence. She loved the first Smurfs movie so I figured she would love this one too. Below is her review of the movie:

5 Reasons Why You Should Take Your Child to Smurfs 2. In no particular order-

1. It’s super funny

2. It’s a good family movie

3. It has great music in the movie

4. It’s awesome when you see it in 3D

5. It has a great lesson for kids like me

Going to the movies is something that we enjoy doing as a family, so by the looks of it, this is a perfect film for the entire brood to see. I grew up watching the Smurfs during my Saturday morning cartoon viewing, so for me, it’s awesome to have something that I knew as a kid that she also now knows as a kid. Smurfs 2 is Rated PG and is a hybrid of live action/animation film. It’s the sequel to the Smurfs film which was released in 2011. A 3rd Smurfs film is slated to be released in 2015.
Smurfs 2 is Chicklet approved. Make sure you go and see it!

The Chicklet may have a future in reviewing films. I may pay her in candy! LOL. Thanks Glammy for commenting. It made her day reading your comment.

Thanks for the review. My question is that if kids haven’t watched the first Smurfs movie will they miss anything in the second one?

I just asked my daughter and she said that you didn’t have to see the first one to understand what’s going on in this one. They do a good job explaining the characters and what happened in the previous movie. Enjoy!
