What to Wear to a Casual Dinner in the City

What to Wear to a Casual Dinner in the City

Need style cues for what to wear to a casual dinner in the city? Look no further.

I love to visit local restaurants that serve up fab flavor and ambiance. There is something about dining someplace new and finding unique dishes to try and share. Whether it’s date night or I am enjoying a night out on the town with my girls, the dinner destination is always the pinnacle of the experience.

Casual dinners are a fun yet social way to go to a new restaurant or revisit a favorite. And because it’s not too dressy, you can explore many style options that can have you breaking out high rise slacks, a neoprene skirt, or a LBD.

During a recent outing to a new restaurant I’ve been dying to try, I oped to break out an oldie but a goodie—a black strap dress number with a chiffon bottom and a favorite old standby, my tried and true Old Navy blue jean jacket. The results were relaxed yet still trendy.

Check out my what to wear to a casual dinner in the city look:

I’ve had this dress for a year now, but I’ve only worn it three times. During this go ’round, I opted to pair it with a pair of gray wedges, blue jean jacket, and my hot pink Kate Spade purse.

Evenings in Chicago by the river are a little cooler in the Spring, so a jacket was in order.

We ate dinner in a fabulous new restaurant downtown called Prime and Provisions—it’s quaint yet posh at the same time.

When I wore the dress last year, I rocked it without a jacket, but it still made a statement.

Stepping Out

The second chiffon layering gives it appeal, taking it from being a simple strappy bodycon to something a little more eye-catching.

It’s a dress that you can dress up or down depending on your mood and your destination.

All-in-all, this Style Cue for What to Wear to a Casual Dinner is super fab, fun, and flirty.

Awesome read! It just seems that, here in our country it’s really hard what to wear these days. You just have to DIY, since fashion statements are playing a good role in today’s era. I’m glad to see different styles and also considering the weather and which city you’re actually at! This would help a lot. Thank you, Danyelle! 🙂
