February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Eight Ways Working Moms Can Use the Calm App

I am a huge fan of the Calm app and it has been helping me relax, relate, and release. Read why using it can help you as a working mom.

If there’s one word that most working moms experience daily, it’s stress. Between juggling work duties, parenting responsibilities, and the hustle and bustle of every day life, we don’t get much time to ourselves. We are often overworked and running on fumes, but we always manage to keep it all together. Many people are in awe of what we are able to accomplish within 24 hours, and I think we are surprised that we make it look so easy.

Recently, I began using the Calm app on my phone consistently, and I have found that it helps me de-stress, unwind, and focus on my center. I’ve been a paid subscriber of Calm for over a year, but hadn’t really used it to its fullest potential until now.

Mamas, let me tell you this—I am so upset with myself for not using it more often previously. It is a wonderful tool that assists me in feeding my appetite for peace and self-introspection, and has done wonders for my mind, body, and soul.

I am such a fan (and I think you should be too!) so I am sharing with you Eight Ways Working Moms Can Use the Calm App so that you can de-stress and unwind with a little help.

Let’s begin, shall we?

To meditate

We’ve all heard about meditation, but how many of us practice it on a regular basis? Meditation has many benefits including reducing stress and controlling anxiety. It allows you to focus and become more in-tune with yourself.

I’ve been meditating daily for awhile now and I notice that I am more in sync with myself and my surroundings. I have more concentration and a clearer mind, allowing me to listen better to my people. I look forward to doing it daily.

To calm anxiety

If you have anxiety, the Calm app has several masterclasses to help you navigate it. Taught by professionals, you can listen on your device and soak in the tips and tools in which they share so you can hopefully achieve a better balance.

For better sleep

Calm has a complete sleep section featuring recordings of soothing stories and sounds. Listen to it when you are ready for bed, and let it lull you into a peaceful sleep. Sweet dreams!

For better overall health

I love the Calm app because it gives you tools for your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. By addressing key issues and stressors that you have, you may even feel healthier, clearer, and even stronger after using it consistently.

I am a huge fan of the Calm app and it has been helping me relax, relate, and release. Read why using it can help you as a working mom.

To learn

I mentioned Calm’s masterclasses before, but it deserves it’s own shine. Calm has masterclasses for topics like gratitude, conscious parenting, breaking bad habits, social media and screen addiction, and more.

You can listen to these classes on your phone, tablet, or even your computer anytime and anywhere.

For self-improvement

You can use Calm’s guided meditation and masterclasses for self-improvement. Tap into them daily and focus on the lessons and the teachings. With Calm, you can create a better you from the inside out, which can help you in all facets of your life including your career, love, relationships, family, and more.

Most of these self-improvement areas come from introspection and reflection. Calm helps reveal your better self.

To workout

Calm offers Calm Body, which helps you stretch before and after your workout.

To be more mindful

One of the best features of the Calm app are the guided meditation sessions by Tamara Levitt. During each Daily Calm, she guides you through the meditation practice, always focusing on being more mindful while becoming more in sync with our mind, body, and soul. With Tamara’s guidance, I find myself being more mindful during the day, and it has helped me find positives in negative situations.

The Calm app has helped me step up my personal growth, and I look forward to using it every day. I would love for you to try it out yourself.

Have you used Calm? Let me know your thoughts.
