Casey Anthony became a free woman yesterday morning just after midnight. One of the most loathed and hated women in the world is now amongst the general population breathing in the fresh air and going on with her life. It’s not going to be an easy ride for Casey, who has been vilified (and rightfully so) as a woman who got away with not only murder, but the murder of her own flesh and blood. The jury clearly stated their opinion about Casey’s guilt, but public opinion says otherwise. So what will she do now?
I predict a long and painful road for the Nancy Grace coined “Tot Mom”. Casey definitely has a personality disorder and longs for love and attention. That longing in particular will cause her to continuously make bad judgment calls on the people she surrounds herself with, and perhaps land right back where she just left—behind the bars of a jail cell.
It’s going to be hard for Casey to have any semblance of a normal life. I do see her reuniting with her family but it’s not going to be a long one. The patterns of dysfunction will soon rear its ugly head and cause everyone in the Anthony family to disrupt. The so-called friends that she makes on her new journey will stick around only as long as Casey is relevant. When she fades to oblivion thanks to our short attention spans, so will they.
And she will be all alone, once again, to face what she did. It is then that she will feel the most pain.
I also see a pattern of reliance on her attorney becoming destructive. Now that Casey is free, her attorney Jose Baez is her hero— the man that potentially saved her life. And because she has put him on such a pedestal, her “love” may turn to obsession. Of course as a lawyer, he will continue to milk her for his fifteen minutes of fame. I also think he will play on her weakness for him using it to his advantage. Yes, I am talking tabloid fodder here, straight National Enquirer foolishness, but only this time it will be true.
Yes, I believe Casey will have her first televised interview within the next month and she will also strike a deal with a popular magazine for her official interview. I do not see a book deal, but a reality program could be on the table. We all said that we would never pay for anything Casey is involved in because we hate her so much. BUT we are also nosey—our curiosity will kill the cat and for a moment, Casey will feel as if she won.
All that is will be temporary of course. The upcoming years don’t look good for Casey. Being free for her may become a gift and a curse.
