Spring Must Haves For Your Beauty Arsenal

Spring has officially sprung and fabulous divas and glamorous girlies are getting their looks together to coincide with the season. As I have blogged before, I am a slave to beauty products and items and there several beauty picks that are ripe and ready for the spring!

Below is a list of beauty items that I recommend to all of my Cubicle Chicks out there that are spring friendly and worthy of your dollar!

Smith’s Rosebud Salve

Even fabulous diva Queen Latifah sings about Rosebud Salve’s praises in the May issue of Glamour. Rosebud Salve is hands down the best lip moisturizer on the market! It lasts for hours and makes your lips soft and supple. Sold at Sephora, Rosebud Salve is a must have for your beauty arsenal. If you haven’t tried it, you are missing out!

Smith's Rosebud Salve. A must have this spring!

Sunscreen

Protecting yourself from the sun is most important, no matter your skin color or tone. African American skin is also supseptable to melanoma, a form of skin cancer (Glamour magazine, May 2010). Sun rays can damage the skin surface and also cause irritation and other problems, and sunscreen is vital when spending time outdoors. Make sure the sunscreen in at least SPF 30 and wear it each time you are going to be in the sun. Many facial moisturizers include SPF in their ingredients, so be sure you are using one with that vital additive. For the body, I prefer Aveeno Active Natural Positively Ageless Sunblock Lotion, available at your local drugstore.

Facial Exfoliator Brush-

The change of weather in the spring can cause your skin to “act up”. A facial exfoliator brush can help clean pores deep in the surface and give your skin a refreshing feel and tone. Sally Beauty sells a great facial brush for only $2.99 and works just as well as the ones that are more expensive. Make sure to change out the brush every few weeks  to keep it sanitary and clean.

Using a facial brush is a great way to deep cleanse.

Shima Sahai Body Butter-

I absolutely LOVE this product and it has changed my life! Shima Sahai’s “Island Girl” Body Butter is the bomb dot com, perfect for when you moisturize right out of the shower. The body butter is made with all natural ingredients and by hand. The smell is absolutely wonderful and your significant other will thank you for using it and your body will too! You can purchase Shima Sahai’s Body Butter on their website for $20.00 for an 8 oz jar!

Pumice Stone- I am a sucker for a good pedicure, but between visits, I keep my feet smooth with a use of a pumice stone. At the end of my shower, I add Carol’s Daughter’s You’re So Fresh Body Wash to the pumice stone directly and I scrub my feet diligently in order to rid it of excess skin. Afterwards, I moisturize with the above mentioned Shima Sahai Body Butter and my feet remain smooth until my next pedi appointment.

A pumice stone can keep the feet right between pedis.

Sephora Lip Gloss-

Light, airy (not thick), and available in an array of spring colors, Sephora’s lip glosses are inexpensive and great for your lips!  There have been times when I have worn it and it has been mistaken for MAC which costs almost twice as much! Girlies, being a beauty maven means also spending wisely. Why spend more than you have to?

Do you have any must have beauty items to recommend for the spring? Do you use any of the items I mentioned? Comment below and let a sister know!
