February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Take this survey (link in bio) for the chance to win 1 of 5 $100 VISA gift cards—takes less than 10 minutes.

Thanks, @mediqcme, and Duke Heart. Supported by an educational grant from the Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer Alliance.

Do You Lie About Your Age?

Ugh. I never can seem to get my video recording right but I’m still working on it. The yellow glow of my eco-friendly lightbulb in the dining area is causing the video to have a green hue. My apologies. One day I will get it right!

But in the meantime, this video discussed age and asks the question as to why we are so obsessed with age in our society. Tune into the video and comment and let me know what you think!

I have no reason to lie. I'm young damn it 25! I look 20 and once was mistaken for a kid in High School. Black don't crack. I'm a guy too though.

Nancy Wilson is a woman that gets better with age. Her voice is amazing but she looks better older than she did when she was a young woman.

    Diahnn Carrol is just ageless.

Good topic. I dunno if guys lie about their age as much as women do, but I honestly have never seen a reason too. Men like older women just as much as younger, so its not really how old you are, but rather how old you feel.

There aren't many guys I know who lie about their age. But this one particular guy I know wishes he were younger, which I truly don't understand, especially since he is in his 30's. Not old by any stretch of the imagination.

I used to say I was 29 all the time, but then I realized I look bad for 29. So now I went the other way and I tell people I'm 49 – I look darn good for 49! LOL

That's cute! I never heard about someone lying about being older than they are (unless they are teens trying to get a drink of course) but hey if it works for you! LOL.

He he i am loving moving around the country, i would love to live in Ireland LOL

It is just the same here in Scotland some people want to look younger & sadly will go to the extremes of plastic surgery. I know a few people male & female who have shaved a few year off & it just makes me laugh as i am like you and happy with my age, i'm 38 & don't see the point in pretending otherwise.
I love the fact that when people try to guess my age they always put me in my late 20's and is a massive compliment. I must admit i loved it when at the age of 21 i was still able to pay a childs entrance fee or bus fare.

    Great vlog

Usually people think I'm a lot younger than I am so I don't have to lie…they lie for me! LMAO But I don't lie about my age. Why? You are who you are and age is part of that.

If aging is no big issue to you, why was it necessary to point out that you did not have any gray hair? Just curious. Nevertheless good vlog. I'm 52 and I lie, lie, lie. Why, because a) most folks wouldn't believe me and b) those that did would probably tell me to grow up! LOLOL
