Five Things I Learned At The Build A Bear Brand Building Workshop Event + Video

During the past two days, I have been a part of the Build a Bear Workshop Brand Building Event here in St. Louis. I was very excited to have been a participant in the meeting. I met some really cool moms from the Midwest area who all have blogs and embrace social media. We all blog from different perspectives, but we are moms who want to learn more about branding to help our blogs which are our business!

What was most fab about the event was that Maxine Clark, the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Bear, sat at my table for the sessions. She is a very warm and friendly woman who is down-to-earth, and I learned a lot from her and the other employees at Build a Bear.

We had sessions with Adrienne Weiss, Principal and Founder of Adrienne Weiss Corporation, a top tier marketing and branding company who taught us all about finding our voice when it comes to our brand.

2007 Huggable Hero, Zach Bonner, also spoke. At 12 years of age, he is the founder of The Little Red Wagon Foundation. Mary Heston, Social Media Expert from WiredMoms spoke about keeping our children safe on the Internet.

During the first evening of the event, we were all invited to Maxine Clark’s home for a barbecue style feast. It was wonderful that she opened her home to us!

The learning and information sharing that was going on during this event was invaluable. Here are five items I learned during the Build A Bear Brand Building Workshop:

1. Branding is like storytelling. Tell a story. —Adrienne Weiss

2. When everyone thinks big, you think small. Do everything smaller. —Adrienne Weiss.

3. Kids keep you honest. —Jill Saunders

4.  Be authentic and passionate about what you do. —Maxine Clark

5. Have a good laugh every day. One should laugh, think, and cry) —Mary Heston

It is hard to incapsulate everything that was given at the event, but I was able to put together some video of the event to showcase a few highlights:
