STL Stayaway: Experience the Atmosphere of Hotel Lumiere

As I tweeted and Facebook’d this past weekend, I indulged in a weekend stay at Hotel Lumiere here in downtown St. Louis. I first began my stayaway series because I wanted to show that you can have a good time in your own town without spending major dough for airfare and travel expenses. Sometimes getting out of our zone and having a little fun and a different environment while you are still available locally is a good thing—my stayways help keep me sane and I love staying in hotels.

I should’ve been a travel blogger.

In any event, when I was invited to stay at Hotel Lumiere, I jumped at the chance. Not only is it one of the new hotels in the area, but it is attached to a wonderful casino that is very reminiscent of the higher end casinos you see on the Las Vegas strip. Being as how I have just spent almost a week total in Vegas in both January and February, I love the lushness that their casino locations provide.

When we were checked in at Hotel Lumiere, we were treated quite well. The staff is very professional and majorly nice which was a breath of fresh air—during a few recent hotel stays, I haven’t been treated as nice.

The room was a nice three room suite, with a living room esque area and a fully stocked bar and nice entertainment area. The bed was delightful (I slept like a baby) and the bedroom area boasted a huge flat screen HD TV that made my other half squeal with joy.

The wonderful gift & card that awaited me in the hotel room. Thanks N.B.!

We treated ourselves to a meal at Lumiere’s House of Savoy which is an authentic Italian restaurant nestled on the 1st floor of the hotel. Amazing food and service.

After spending minimal time in the casino, we headed back to our room where I worked for a bit (BOO) on my laptop and feasted on the hotel’s super fast internet. While I was impressed with that, it is not included in the hotel fee and is charged in 4 hour increments.

We caught Date Night and Due Date on the boob tube before retiring for the night, both of which were funny flicks and were extra fabulous from the comfortable king sized bed and large flat screen.

What happened next? That would be TMI, kids!

Breakfast in bed awaited us the next day and it was very good as well. The Eggs Benedict made my eyes roll in the back of my head.

In a nutshell, our stayaway experience at Hotel Lumiere was very nice. The only thing I would complain about would be the courtyard hallways in the hotel. You can hear everything going on in the bar area and as well as the traffic in the area below. On Saturday nights, between the groups and the parties, it could be a lot.

That did not, however, stop us from having a good time.

I give this stay a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Good stuff!

BTW, the Lumiere Place Casino and Hotel will be the venue location for Show Me the Blog Social Media and Blogging Conference.

I, The Cubicle Chick, was given a complementary room at the hotel to review at no cost. The views reflected in the post are mine and were not affected in any way by the hotel or company.

AT the rate this economy is not going and the wonderful world of education I’ll be doing more staycations with my son again this year. Bummer! but we can make it work if we throw in a few hotel stays. He loves them as much as you do.

“I should’ve been a travel blogger.” You can say that again! I love traveling and showing off the goods. Like I said on YT, I’ve stayed at Lumiere before as well as been there for Fashion Week a few years ago. Thanks for sharing 🙂
