2nd Annual Steve Harvey Foundation Gala In New York (Pics)

Radio show host, author, and philanthropist Steve Harvey gathered all of his friends and colleagues for his 2nd Annual Steve Harvey Foundation Gala last night in New York City at Cipriani. The night was organized to celebrate and bring attention to Harvey’s organization, which strives to mentor and help young Black men through many programs funded by the foundation.

Gayle King, Boris Kodjoe, L.A. Reid, Tyler Perry, and others joined Steve and his wife Marjorie as they partied it up for a cause.

Angela Simmons dress is very pretty but the fit is poor, particularly in the bodice area.

Thelma, Thelma, Thelma… *sigh* Ms. Stanis, between that shiny blouse with the small dangling beads and those velvet pants I don’t know what you were thinking. Are those shoulder pads in that blouse??? And red acrylic nails in 2011? Please stop. I won’t mention the fact that your girls are right under your chin. Some of the costumes you wore on Good Times were better than this!! Shame on you.

Malaak Compton-Rock, Steve Harvey, and Marjorie Harvey look nice. Very elegant. I just wish Steve would let a little of his hair grow back…

Paulette Washington you are married to one of the sexiest men in Hollywood. How dare you step out in that mess. Where do I start? The blue leopard bustier? The nylon ankle socks? Or the blue beads that are just WRONG? What in the name of style were you thinking?

Sherri Shepard looks nice. She should have worn her hair up & away from her face and neck. Something sparkly around her neck would have been a nice touch as well. Love the pops of color w/ her blue polish and red clutch.

Tyler Perry cleans up nicely. I’ll take away 5 points because he opted to not wear a tie. His girlfriend’s dress is Boxing Kitten I believe. I love that line. She wears it well, I’m not 100% convinced it was apropos for a gala.

Gayle King looks nice but maybe it’s the angle she’s standing that makes her dress look unflattering. Great color for her though.

My heart skipped beat just now. Boris. Kodjoe. He looks UH-MAY-ZING!!!!! Think I’ll scroll back up and have another look =)

Really Chris Rock with the black tee shirt and sport jacket? And that Billy Goat beard… Why?? I like Malaak’s dress. The color compliments her. That odd shape of material in the front is a little distracting though.

LA Reid has come a long way since that jheri curl he rocked when he was in The Deele (yes I took it back! LOL!!) The fact that Russel Simmons is clutching his baseball cap and wore a bow tie just makes him the eternal B-boy and I can’t get mad at him for that.

Kim, in defense of Chris Rock, he is doing a broadway play which calls for him to have facial hair and look scruffy. Other than that, I am in agreement with everything you said as always. Classic comments.

I think Angela looks beautiful. She’s really growing into her own. Boris Kodjoe looks amazing as usual. It seemed like a wonderful event…my invite must’ve gotten lost in the mail 🙂

I am not going to say much since my mind went to all the negative things I could write. I will say that Marjorie’s dress is one only she and the designer understands. He does such great things for the community and the folks. Keep giving back cause y’all can afford to!
