5 Ways Work at Home Moms Can Grow Their Business Right Now

Written By: Parenting Contributor, Prerna Malik, TheMomWrites.com

5 Ways Work at Home Moms Can Grow Their Business Right NowAs a work-at-home mom myself, I know the importance of working hard to grow my business while taking care of my home and family. Fortunately, for us, work-at-home moms there are lots of quick and effective ways to work “on” our business and take them to the next level.

Best part, you can do these without compromising on family time or managing your home.

Ready? Get, set, go!

Build Your Business Socially

Social networking is an easy {and yes, fun!} way to grow your business. From finding your target audience on Twitter to connecting with peers and colleagues on Facebook to “pinning” business ideas on Pinterest, you can set aside 20-30 minutes every day and focus on meeting one goal from your social networks. Do this for a month and at the end of it, you’ll be able to see the difference it makes to your business and income.

Work Productively

Multitasking is not a good idea when you only have small windows to work in. Instead, “batch” tasks and knock off a biggie, like emails in one clean swoop.

Working productively and focusing on key tasks will ensure that you finish your deliverables for the day before moving onto lower priority items.

Outsource the Stress

That’s right. You need to invest in your business and you really can’t be everything to everyone. So, if you can afford it, outsource or delegate some tasks that others can easily manage. Think, cleaning to your tween! Sure, the “new hire” may not be very happy to begin with, but if you are really smart about it, you can turn it into a win-win situation. For instance, paying your tween a small amount or letting your older daughter take out the family car once on the weekend in return for laundry done.

Grow Your Business, In-Person

Want to grow your business? Get out and about! That’s right. Make sure you spend some time meeting your target audience or contemporaries in person. Whether it is at a blogger meet where you can take one of the kids along or a play date with a fellow mom entrepreneur, think creatively to meet people in person. Not only will this give you the chance to connect with other mom entrepreneurs, you will also be able to help people attach a face to the person behind the business.

Live in a country where there aren’t many in-person networking opportunities? Create your own. Or attend virtual events where attendees meet via Skype. You still get to “see” each other and connect!

Build Your Biz With Your Family

Finally, as work-at-home moms, our families come first. They are your Board of Directors, so to speak. If you want to grow your business, make sure your family knows what you do and why you do it. They shouldn’t think that when you’re on the laptop, you’re just faffing away on Facebook.

They should see how hard you work and the results it brings. If you need ideas on how to get your family to “get” your biz, in my eBook for work-at-home moms, How to be a Work-at-Home Mom, I share 5 easy ways to involve your spouse in your business. Grow your business by taking your family behind the scenes. It will take no time and will have a huge impact in the amount of support you get!

So, you see, growing your work-at-home business isn’t tough. It just needs hard work, focus and some creative thinking.

Share with me which one of these ways will YOU be trying first to grow your business!
