Cubicle Chick Fitness Journey: Getting Fit with Vivofit and Fabletics

Cubicle Chick Fitness Journey Getting Fit with Vivofit and Fabletics

This blog post is one of a series of posts that I will be writing as a part of my Cubicle Chick Fitness Journey. I am using my blog to document my healthy lifestyle changes, as well as review fitness and healthy lifestyle products.

I am almost forty. Which means that not only am I taking stock in my age, but in my health as well. It’s no secret that I travel a lot, and it can be taxing on my waistline. And because of my family history with heart disease and high blood pressure, I know that it is important for me to take charge of my health. No more putting it off.

For the past several weeks, I have been eating healthier (75% clean eats) and I’ve been working out. I’ve been on this “routine” before, so I haven’t been amplifying it as much because I want to make sure that I am backing up which that of I speak. And now that I’ve gotten into a groove of both healthy eating and living, I am ready to share this journey with you.

This is not about weight loss, although I know that is an awesome benefit of staying active and eating healthier. I don’t plan on weighing myself, but rather sticking to a healthy routine that is good for me and my body. Already, I can tell that what I am doing is working; my clothes aren’t as snug and I have more stamina when I workout. I am sure eventually I will hop on the scale, but for now, it’s about being consistent and changing my bad eating habits.

To help me out, I’ve been using the Vivofit from Garmin. It was sent to me to use by Verizon Midwest, and I’ve been using it hardcore for about three weeks now. It tracks my steps taken, calories burned, and syncs with MyFitnessPal. But unlike many other activity trackers on the market, the Vivofit doesn’t have to be charged for a year.

I’m not too fond of the design on the Vivofit, but I do like how functional it is. I can also sync it with the Garmin app on my phone, which syncs with the iPhone health app. So far since using the Vivofit, I’ve met my required miles 90% of the time, even going over them many times over. It encourages me to get active and moving, and because of this, I’ve come to rely on it a lot.

Which brings me to the actual working out part. I walk, run, and jog between 3-5 miles every other day or so. I am also doing some light weightlifting and cardio. I don’t own a lot of sweats and yoga pants and things like that, so I decided to partake in a VIP membership to Fabletics. It is an activewear subscription service co-founded by the actress Kate Hudson, and it offers you affordable workout gear. I received my first outfit, and it fit perfectly and keeps me looking fab while I am sweating my butt off.

The subscription fee is $49.95 per month, and you only are charged when you don’t skip your order before the 5th of each month. I’ve only had one shipment thus far, but I am liking the quality (and this is not a paid nor compensated endorsement. I spent my own coins).

I will have to keep you posted on future shipments.

Summer will be here before we know it, so I wanna be fly, fab, and fit. I think I’m on my way.

Do you have any fitness tips for me? I need all of the help I can get!
