Do You Skype?

I am a social networking junkie. Any new social networking site that comes out on the market, I am usually game. Twitter is by far my favorite social networking site followed by Facebook. Earlier this year, I jumped on the Skype bandwagon at the urging of my online friends, and I have once again gotten hooked on another social networking site!

For those of you that may be living under a rock, Skype is a downloadable program which allows you to chat, voice chat, and video chat with your friends. Skype is a perfect way to keep in touch with your friends as well as see people while you are talking, It has been widely used in the media and in news outlets such as CNN and MSNBC. In addition, Skype was an asset during the Haiti and Chile earthquakes, allowing victims to communicate with others.

I am loving Skype right now.

It is way more personal than say your Twitter or Myspace. I only Skype with folk that I consider really good friends. It’s not an application that I would just use with anybody.

Do you Skype? Why and how often? And if you don’t, what has deterred you from using the program?

I love Skype! Since I graduated from college 3 years ago, all my friends are scattered hours away and video chatting is so much more fun and engaging than a phone call, plus it's free!! I also just heard on the news today that they're going to be rolling out a new group chat feature soon! You'll be able to chat w up to 5 ppl, but they're going to charge for it eventually 🙁

    Love your blog!
