Today is National Wear Red Day: Wear Red & Fight Heart Disease

I am all for good causes. And when it comes to preventing diseases that affect women, I must get involved. Last month, I wrote about the Bleeding Heart Project organization which was started by friend Raijean Stroud, who at 28 years of age was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy and Congestive Heart Failure. After seeing that there were not many organizations that focused on younger individuals with heart disease, Raijean began to initiate it herself.

Raijean is also a supporter of Wear Red Day and the Go Red for Women campaign founded by the American Heart Association. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and it’s very important that we all learn about heart health. Wearing red today shows that you are in support of more funding for a cure for heart disease as well as spreading the message to women how important it is to get checked regularly.

Go Red for Women urge you to also ‘Tell 5–Save Lives’. Using their website, you can enter five names and email addresses and the American Heart Association will send a free Go Red Heart Health Kit to them on your behalf.

Us women have to stick together, and sharing the message about being heart smart is a great way to get the word out. I hope you do your part to fight heart disease.

Are you wearing red today?
