The 4 Things I Like About the Motorola Droid Bionic (and 1 Thing I Don’t)

It’s been almost a month since I have had the Verizon Motorola Droid Bionic in my possession, and it’s been mostly so far, so good. As an avid fangirl of the Android OS, the Droid Bionic fits neatly into my life and busy lifestyle. The Droid Bionic is like having a small computer with you at all times and helps me transition from mom to mogul in seconds.

After changing every alert from the scary robotic (and lifechanging) Droid voiceover, I became quite comfortable with using the phone, and sometimes, I have been using it over my Tmobile My Touch 4g, which is also an Android device. My My Touch is practical, endearing, and cute, but the Droid Bionic is bold, flashy, and has a lot of wow factor aesthetically. I have mostly wonderful things to say about the device, and only one thing that I think could be improved.

Here is my list of 4 things I like about the Motorola Droid Bionic (and 1 thing that I don’t):

The Touchpad:

I LOVE this touchpad. Sometimes my My Touch lags when it comes to drafting a tweet, email, text, etc. (it could be memory card overload), but the Droid Bionic is seamless and allows me to keystroke in real time without much work on my end. The touchscreen keyboard is fluid and beautiful, and makes me want to use it more.

Favorites on the Homescreen

I love the way you can select your favorite (and most used) contacts on the homescreen and call, text, or email them on the homescreen with just a touch of a button. The feature alone makes this a fabulous phone.

It’s Freaking Fast!

The 4GLTE speed on this phone is incredible. It is like being on high speed wifi in your home or office. My My Touch 4g is fast as well. but not as fast as the Droid Bionic, and this really comes in handy when I am downloading documents while on the go.

Light as a Feather

You would think with everything that the Droid Bionic does that it would be big and clunky, but this phone is surprisingly light. It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that it does so much and weighs so little (it’s lighter than my HTC My Touch 4g), but the light weightiness of the device makes me want to carry it everywhere with me.

The 1 Thing I Don’t Like About the Droid Bionic

…the camera. Womp womp. While the zooming in feature really zooms in, the quality of the pictures when on the factory boxed setting is poor, especially in comparison to my other Android phone (and my Blackberry). The photos are grainy in natural light and aren’t quite up to snuff when other phone cameras give crisp photos. I take a lot of pictures while I am out at events and things, so I need to have a good camera on my phone when I don’t have my digital camera in hand. With a phone that does so much, I am disappointed in the camera.

During a recent conference call with Verizon, we were told that Motorola is aware of the camera quality and is working to improve it on their end. I will keep you up to date on the news and information I receive about this issue when I receive it.

All in all, I would say that the Droid Bionic is a fab device and I enjoy using it to run my little empire!

What are your thoughts about the Droid Bionic by Verizon?

I, The Cubicle Chick, received a Motorola Droid Bionic at no charge to me for being a Verizon Midwest Mom. My opinions, as always, are my own and have not been affected in any way by the sponsor.

LOVE IT! But you are spot-on about the camera. Its terrible. Not just grainy, but ssssssssssssslow. The camera is the only flaw.

Gary, you and I are —><---. I could forgive the slow speed of the camera if it took great pictures. I hope it will be something that improves, since Motorola is aware of it. Thanks for commenting.

Your slight issue with the lag while composing your tweets or messages might have something to do with your memory, try upgrading to a higher storage MB and see if it still is the same. But nonetheless, the phone really looks good. Hopefully it catches with the likes of iPhone, Samsung and HTC.
