Bloggers ‘Writer’s Block’

I never thought I would ever have this happen to me but alas, I am there. I am experiencing the worst case of bloggers writer’s block, and I am kicking myself because I am not following my number one rule of blogging which is—consistency.

I don’t know what to attribute this writer’s block to. It could be because I am writing for several other blogs that now I have lost the voice on my own project. Or it could be because after blogging consistently, almost daily for ten months, I have blogged about everything I can think of. Or it could be that I am turning into a lazy blogger. Please, don’t let that be the case!

I was so pumped after attending Blogging While Brown last month and I threw myself into my blog and perfecting my voice. Everything was going well—my audience was growing, I was getting more traffic, and I felt that my blog had come into its own.

And now, about a month later, I am all blogged out.

I vowed never to be that person who neglected their blog. But what do you do when you can’t find anything to write on your own platform?

I’m confuzzled! And I feel like I am losing my voice on my blog.

So I need your help people. Readers, Tweeties, FB friends and fam, please help me out. Have you ever experienced writer’s block before? How did you overcome it?

I need some words of encouragement here!

I am soooo right there with you right now. I have the worst blogger's block ever this week and I know it's because I've taken on too much…beside 5 posts to write for my own blog I've had 3 guest posts to write this week alone. It's confusing.

It’s a struggle. To break through, I am writing about my experiences this week, retelling my story to bring out my creativity. Keep working towards your break through a well—it will happen.

I've been blogging for 3 years now … I have two blogs. Sometimes it is a good idea to simply take a break. If the ideas for a blog post aren't flowing … then simply take a break. On the other hand … when the ideas return and flow … then you should *schedule* blog posts to appear in the future. I have 30 days worth of blog posts (the ones that are not time-sensitive) already scheduled and ready to flow automatically. This way my blog readers don't know when I'm taking a break.

Anyhow, I'm sure your flow will be back soon!

    peace, Villager

Wow, 30 days worth of posts in the hopper? I have a few but certainly not 30 days worth. I do blog more than once when in the creative mood—but running out of ideas is what I’ve been having trouble with. This too shall pass. 🙂

My hats off to you for blogging daily– I can hardly blog weekly with all I have going on. Don't put so much pressure on yourself. Create an editorial calendar and put some extra posts in your back pocket for times like this. Look at trends and things going on around you if you're feeling uninspired. Check your RSS feed, fb or Twitter stream, and you can get plenty of new ideas or re-spin another aspect of an issue. Chin up, dear!

I currently use a scheduling calendar to track ideas and prewrite posts, but even that has slowed down. Hoping “my spark” comes back soon. For now I am using personal experiences and goings on in my life to update my blog. Thanks for the insight and info!
