February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Take this survey (link in bio) for the chance to win 1 of 5 $100 VISA gift cards—takes less than 10 minutes.

Thanks, @mediqcme, and Duke Heart. Supported by an educational grant from the Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer Alliance.

Cube Giveaway: Sleep Innovations REJUVENATION Pillow

A Cubicle Chick is only as good as her last night’s sleep. There is so much that we do in a day that a restful and peaceful sleep goes a long way. Having a reliable mattress that allows for good sleep is an absolute must, but don’t underestimate what the right type of pillow can do for you. Having a great pillow that supports your neck and gives you a pleasant sleep is most awesome, and with Sleep Innovations REJUVENATION Pillow, you get just that! (and then some)

I received my Sleep Innovations REJUVENATION Pillow two weeks ago, and let me tell you, I have been sleeping like a baby. The soft support along with the “hump” in the middle of the pillow supports the neck and shoulders and is really comfortable. The pillow is also made with memory foam that is uber comfy and soft.

The only drawback is because the pillow isn’t shaped like a “normal” pillow, I have had a hard time fitting my pillowcases over it. I sleep with satin pillowcases because of my hair, so I have had to make some adjustments with my pillowcase. Other than that, the REJUVENATION pillow is awesome.

I have the opportunity to give away one (1) REJUVENATION Pillow to a lucky reader. To enter to win the pillow, you must do the following:

  • Follow me on both Twitter and Facebook
  • Subscribe to my blog feed
  • Tweet the following: “I entered to win a @ChooseSI REJUVENATION Pillow via @TheCubicleChick”
  • Comment below and let me know you’ve done as instructed.

One winner will be selected at random. Open to U.S. residents only, void where prohibited. The item will be shipped to the winner by Sleep Innovations. The winner will be announced on Twitter and Facebook and will have 24 hrs to claim prize, or an alternate winner will be chosen. This giveaway ends on 7/28. The pillow retails for $35.00

Good luck! And get your sleep on with Sleep Innovations REJUVENATION Pillow.

I, The Cubicle Chick, was given a REJUVENATION Pillow to review by Sleep Innovations. This by no means affected the outcome of my review of the product.
