Hug Your Boss! It’s National Bosses Week!

As if your boss needs more of a reason to be a jerk, this week is National Bosses Week, a full five days devoted to your superior on the J-O-B. While I was always cool with my boss when I worked the Cubicle Lifestyle, I did have my issues with the sometimes delusions of grandeur that was submitted in the office by my boss. All that, of course, is supposed to go by the wayside as we kiss our bosses butt this week and let them know they are the greatest to ever do it.

I think the best part about National Bosses Week is that it gives non-bosses something to strive for. Most of us work to finally get that corner office and become the boss, and seeing a full week devoted to our ultimate goal should be enough of a motivating factor for us to go ahead and just do it! Who wants to work for someone else all of their life when they can be a boss?

What are some things you can do for your boss? Well, you could always go the safe route and send them flowers or give them a card. You could even take them out to lunch (and later write it off as a business expense of course!) or go a little further and buy them a gift certificate for a massage or pedicure or something like that.

What better way to get in your boss’ good graces than to ply them with gifts and liquor and such. Oh, and if your review and raise time is coming up, please use this “holiday” to your advantage. Get that money!

Seriously, though, hug your boss! Tell them how proud you are of them and how much you enjoy working for them. Let them know they are the best boss ever and remind them how happy you are that they are your boss.

Then next week, you can go back to business as usual by ignoring their emails and speaking under your breath whenever they are around.

Go get ’em Cubes and Dudes!

Celebrating my boss would be like celebrating a slave master. Seriously, I can’t. That’s exactly what it feels like. I might reach out to hug her and wind up punching her in the face and I’m not even that type of girl.
