February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Cubicle Life, On A Personal Note · November 12, 2011

Drumroll Please….My 1000th Blog Post

This is my 1,000th blog post on TheCubicleChick.com. Who would’ve thought that I would make it to 1,000 posts? That is like a major feat in the world of blogging—to reach this milestone for me is incredible. I am the type of person who struggled to stick to one thing. I usually would give up after a few months and go onto something else. It’s amazing what a therapeutic experience this has been, blogging on this site. It has become a major part of my life, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else at this point.

Now there is work for me to do. I want to make it to 2,000 posts. Then 3,000. And so on and so forth. I want this blog not only to be a place where people can come and read, but a community of Cubes and Dudes, people who enjoy pop culture, fashion, fabulosity, and fun. I want it to be my legacy, something I can look back on and say “yes. I DID THAT!”

So let me leave this post with this: Find your creative center, your space, your vision, and grow it. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do it. And if they do tell you that you can’t, use that to fuel and motivate you.

Now onto writing post 1,001. 🙂

Thanks so much for the well wishes, girlie. When I started my blog in Oct. ’09, I had no idea that I could even get to that many posts. Seeing that number is fueling me to continue to post more and fuel my blog/business. I am wishing you success on your blog!

Congratulations Cubicle Chick!!! That IS a wonderful accomplishment. 🙂 I’m a new reader (mainly catching you on G+ and then following links to here), enjoying what I’ve seen so far and definitely cheering you on for the next 1000 and beyond. 🙂 Thanks for the closing comment, I need to keep re-reading it so that I remember to finally pin down what my creative space is and grow it (kinda scattered and not able to stick with any one thing to completion). Thanks for your site, & Keep it up!
