In the 90’s, Ricki Lake ruled daytime television by snagging younger viewers with her entertaining talk show, Ricki Lake . While I was in college, I would record her shows each day on my VCR so I wouldn’t miss an episode. Then, after years be a force to be reckoned with on television, Ricki Lake’s show was no more.
About a year ago via social media and “Friends of Ricki” on Twitter and Facebook, I began hearing that Ricki was returning to daytime TV with a new show. Penned The Ricki Lake Show, it will be a more grown, less drama-esque than her first talk show, and will be focused on more positive aspects. Since the show is targeting an older demographic, expect topics that are to the heart and real.
Per 20th Television:
“(the) show will present topical conversation reflecting Ricki’s own personal journey and recent life experiences. As her fans have grown up with Ricki, a combination of relevant themes personal to the host and her audience including family, marriage, parenting, divorce, weight loss and overall well-being are being explored for the program.”
A lot has changed in Ricki’s life since her last talk show. She is a mom of two now and newly married. She has been a huge advocate of mid-wifery and home births. I am sure she has a lot to talk about, and her new show will be chock full of information, testimonies, and tidbits us women want (and need) to hear.
The Ricki Lake Show debuts via syndication on Monday, September 10th, 2012.
I am looking forward to seeing Ricki on her new talk show, which is airing at a 2pm timeslot in my city. To get a complete list of cities and channels carrying The Ricki Lake Show, click HERE.
