Whenever I am traveling and I mention that I am from St. Louis, I almost always get the same questions: “have you been to Sweetie Pie’s?” and “is the food there just as good as it looks like on TV?”. I can tell you that, yes, I’ve been to Sweetie Pie’s many times—too many times to count. And, the food is quite good. I am a sucker for their macaroni and cheese. Like Nelly, Miss Robbie and her Sweetie Pie’s imprint has put St. Louis on the map in terms of pop culture. Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s has become a reality hit and the crown jewel for Oprah’s OWN network.
A new season of the show starts tonight (July 12th) and will certainly be a season to watch (last season was a little redundant and boring, IMO. This season looks to be juicier by the looks of the previews). After looking to open another Sweetie Pie’s in Houston, it appears as though they’ve decided to open one on Beale Street in Memphis. This season will give us a peek into this decision, and how it will play out with the family. And it looks as if the family may be divided, either over this, or some other issue.
Currently, according to published reports, the Memphis Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s location is not open yet. It will be open to later this summer.
I plan to be front and center to watch the premiere of the new season.
