CES Day 1 is now a wrap, and I am now challenged with condensing it into one brief synopsis to use on this very blog. To say I was overwhelmed is a understatement, one that is true every year I attend. With so much to see and do, you can often feel stressed out—but this year, I vowed to pace myself and truly seek technology that would be of interest to me and my readers. This go ’round, I’m sticking with everyday tech items and lifestyle gadgets that can improve and enhance our overall experience.
Most of my time on CES Day 1 was spent in both South and Central Halls at the Las Vegas Convention Center, as I toured many of the booths that inhabited the area. The standouts of my experience were Nikon, Samsung, Sony, LG, and Polaroid, so I am going to focus on those brands for the duration of this post.
Get the deets and tea on what I saw and what I was most impressed with below: (wanna see my CES Day 1 video footage? Click here)
Nikon
Most bloggers of my caliber have a DSLR camera for taking photos, but this girl doesn’t. I have my trusty Nikon Coolpix P610 that I use for photos and videos and it serves me well, but I do understand that I need to step my game up, and Nikon understands my plight. When it comes to serving up quality cameras that are functional and run the gamut on price, Nikon has it. I played with a few of their point and shoot cameras as well as the Big Daddy of them all, the Nikon D5. At $6500, it’s not for the faint of heart, but it does everything you need and want it to do and then some. The Nikon D500 is also a quality DSLR but is $2000. So for me, this is a price point I can appreciate.
Samsung
When it comes to dominating CES, Samsung totally wins this title. They are everywhere, and for good reason. They’ve unveiled some awesome technological offerings including the Family Hub Refrigerator which connects you and your family with a digital bulletin board and other interactive features. You can also order groceries right from the interface.

Samsung gets most of their attention for their smartphones, but they are really trying to create an overall ecosystem that plays with one another in such a way that you are connected no matter what device or appliance you use.
I also got to demo the Samsung Gear S2 watch with the rose gold finish, and dare I say, I want one! Yes, this Apple supporter is about that Gear life!

Sony
Sony kicked off CES Day 1 with the unveiling of the world’s first 4K smartphone. Quite impressive, right? But after touring their booth, there was one gadget I put on my wish list: the Sony HD Audio Noise Canceling Headphones. During a simulated flight, I was able to listen to crisp and undeniably robust music quality sans any distractions. I have noise canceling headphones, but the quality doesn’t match these, and for that very reason, I’m sold!

Polaroid
Polaroid was in the house featuring most of their product line, but the focus this year was on their Polaroid Cube, which is a small camera that also shoots video and can be mounted on anything. Consider it a start up to a Go Pro. I was given one last year and I haven’t used it yet. After seeing them at CES, I am going to make sure to break it out and use it to video myself while I’m on the go.
They’ve totally revamped themselves bringing their old school instant photo flavor to another generation of users.
LG
Samsung is doing their best to one-up LG when it comes to their smart appliance offerings and I don’t blame them one bit, LG was the first brand I saw using connectivity and interaction to create smart appliances that can be controlled anywhere. And not only are these appliances Jetson approved, but they are sleek and stylish. I see you LG!
Oh, and if you thought LG wasn’t boss at creating the ultimate entertainment experience, think again. They may be featuring more appliances, but their TV’s are still some of the best on the market. Say hello to LG OLED 4K.

Canon
My tweets whilst in the Canon booth got the most attention from my followers from Twitter, so I am adding it to this CES Day 1 rundown as well because people love this brand. While I am eyeing the Nikon D500, the Canon Rebel EOS T6i, I’m told, is a perfect DSLR starter camera. And at $899, a worthy investment. I’m still deciding. What do you think?
I’m told that this @CanonUSA EOS T6i is a great entry level DSLR camera. It’s 899 & comes w/ a lens #CES2016pic.twitter.com/rfEcsOQKSO

How cool is this conference! I am always impressed to read about all of the new gadgets that are coming out, so I bet it is pretty neat to see these innovations in person. I am in the market for a Nikon camera, so it’s nice to see what’s new on their front. I have also read about the smart refrigerator and am dying to see how it works. And the Samsung watch looks interesting. I only really here about the apple watch, but I am a Samsung girl so it’s good to hear that it’s comparable (if not better!). have a great time! Can’t wait to read about more of your conference exploits!

Thanks for commenting. It’s always fun to see what’s new and next in tech. I love gadgets, so this is so in my lane. I’m leaning towards another Nikon myself. 🙂
