February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Celebrating My Career Reinvention with the Film Second Act

Second Act is now available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital Download. Jennifer Lopez isn't the only one experiencing her second act---I am too.

You may have heard, or seen on social media—or maybe not. Last summer, I began a position as the Director of Social Media and Digital Marketing for a radio station in my city. I took this gig after being my own boss and working only for myself for 8 years, and it was quite a leap!

I get asked all of the time why I decided to go back into Corporate America, and I never have a definitive answer. I can say that now that my children are older with one out of the house and one in high school, I didn’t feel the pull to solely work at home like I did before. I longed to be with others while contributing to something, and when this opportunity came up, I took it.

Being a mom of two and 43, this was a huge change for me, and it hasn’t been without some stumbles and hiccups. However, I am proud that I took a leap of faith that took be back into the workplace and I am enjoying my career reinvention—it has become my Second Act.

Universal sent me a wonderful package filled with items that celebrated the digital release of Second Act, and out of all the packages I receive for write ups and coverage, this one spoke to me. I, like Jennifer Lopez character in the film a reinvention of sorts–and it feels good!

Second Act is now available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital Download. Jennifer Lopez isn't the only one experiencing her second act---I am too.

Movie synopsis:

Second Act is a comedy in the vein of Working Girl and Maid In Manhattan. Jennifer Lopez stars as Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts, and that it is never too late for a Second Act.

It is a heartfelt comedy that will inspire audiences. Jennifer Lopez returns to the big screen in an empowering, signature role that proves your dreams are always within reach.  By using street smarts, real-world experience and determination, you too, can break down superficial barriers opening opportunities to succeed in any situation.

If you want more details about my experience going back into corporate life, you can watch my YouTube video HERE.

Second Act is available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital platforms for download or streaming. It stars Jennifer Lopez, Leah Remini, Vanessa Hudgens, Annaleigh Crawford, Charlene Yi, Treat Williams, and Milo Ventimiglia.

You can also visit the official Second Act website HERE.

I am happy that I found my Second Act, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me and my future career path.
