2021 Sales Tax Holiday Dates By State For Back to School

Find out the 2021 Sales Tax Holiday Dates in your state for back to school, and learn what covered and what items are tax exempt.

Before you know it, it will be time for back to school. Many of our kids will be getting back into the swing of actually going back to school in person after over a year of being virtual or learning in an hybrid environment. Some of you will opt to homeschool your kids as well.  No matter how your kids will learn this year, they will need supplies and other items for back to school.

Once again, I am sharing a list of sales tax holiday dates by state. Prepping for back to school  can be quite expensive, so this list will come in handy for those of you who are looking to take advantage of the tax free weekend.

Sales Tax Free holidays occur in many states, often around Back to School time to help parents with the cost of BTS shopping. In most instances, it takes place over a weekend or two to three day time span. You can purchase items like clothing, school supplies, and some tech like computers and laptops without paying sales tax. This can really help when purchasing big ticket items (and if you don’t have a child, you can still get the discount on these items).

Check out my list of 2021 Sales Tax Holiday Dates by State, as it gives you the dates in your state, what is covered, and more.  In some states, this includes things for your home as well.

States like California, New York, Illinois, North Carolina, and Georgia currently do not have Sales Tax Holidays.

The dollar amounts are “up-to” amounts, meaning that if what you purchase at one time is higher than the maximum cost, you will pay tax on it.

Here’s to making this next school year the best one yet. Make sure to share my 2021 Sales Tax Holiday Dates by State with your friends and family to pass on the savings.
