New Season of Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s Premieres 3/31 on OWN

With the tagline, “Heart. Soul. Mac ‘n Cheese”, OWN’s breakout reality series, Sweetie Pie’s, is set to make its triumphant second season return on Saturday, March 31st at 9/8 CST. Sweetie Pie’s is set in my hometown of St. Louis and features Miss Robbie, her son Tim, her nephew Charles, and her daughter-in-law Jenae as they work together to run the family restaurant, which has now grown to three locations. It’s a soul filled glimpse into the lives of a fabulous family that serves soul food.

Miss Robbie is an amazing woman who overcame many obstacles to be the proprietor of a successful restaurant. For years, she sang background as an Ikette for the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, and worked as a session singer for the likes of Dr. John and many other artists in the 70’s and 80’s. Miss Robbie had to hang up her microphone when she experienced health problems with her lungs and turned to making food for the soul, based on her being raised as a child on southern food. She enlisted her son, Tim, as her business partner, and together, the two of them run Sweetie Pie’s.

Sweetie Pie’s is actually a full family affair and also enlists the help of Miss Robbie’s sisters and their children. Charles, Miss Robbie’s nephew, and the lazy waiter that can be seen in most of the first season episodes of Sweetie Pie’s, plays his part, and Jenae, Miss Robbie’s daughter-in-law and Tim’s fiancee also helps to make sure everything runs smooth in the restaurant.

I loved the first season, and I see that I am not the only one. Since Sweetie Pie’s debuted on OWN last fall, I have had people on Twitter ask me all the time if I have ever eaten at Sweetie Pie’s since I live in St. Louis. “How is the food?” “Are they just like they are on TV?”

Let me say this—the food is amazing (yes I have eaten there many times), and if you come to St. Louis, Sweetie Pie’s is a must-visit.

Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s was one of OWN’s most successful and most watched shows when it debuted last fall, so I know this season is going to be entertaining, to say the least.

Here are a few pictures from my last visit to Sweetie Pie’s (which was this past winter). I haven’t been recently because I am watching my figure, but as soon as I get a cheat day, I will be going to Sweetie Pie’s to get my fix.

When I visited Sweetie Pie’s last, someone was celebrating their birthday. So Tim dressed as a cross between Rick James and James Brown and came out to sing Happy Birthday with the staff in tow

I ate baked chicken, macaroni and cheese with mashed potatoes and gravy on my last visit. Gee, it looks so good!

My mother in law had fried catfish, potato salad, and cornbread. We ate like kings that night!

Will you be watching the new season of Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s on OWN?

The cornbread and cat fish look amazing on your mother-in-laws plate.
I’m sad I didn’t know about Sweetie Pie’s back in 2000 when I moved back to Missouri. I would have definitely went there to eat!

We are going Sunday after church. Gonna be a challenge with watching my calories, but I’ll probably won’t eat much for the rest of the day. Fruit & veggies. I’ll be tuned in also, I love the show.
