My novel ‘A Clermont Lane Wedding’ is certainl My novel ‘A Clermont Lane Wedding’ is certainly not biographical, but there are traces of my life all up and down this book (hint hint). It’s a perfect Spring Break read!

Go Red for National Wear Red Day: February 1st

Wear Red Day The Cubicle ChickRed is a signature color of mine. And it’s also a hue that can make a difference on Feb. 1st, which has been deemed National Wear Red Day by the American Heart Association and Go Red for Women. Heart disease is the leading killer of women, and because of that, everyone is being asked to wear red in support of those affected with heart disease.

My father passed away last year due to complications from heart disease including congestive heart failure. For the last several years, I have participated in National Wear Red Day because it really hit home, and this year, it is even more important to me to spread the word. If I can save just one life for promoting heart health and awareness, it would certainly be worth it. I know my dad would want me to continue the good fight.

This will be the 4th year that I have participated in National Wear Red Day, thanks in part to my very good friend and blogging colleague, Raijean Stroud, who also suffers from congestive heart failure and has several surgeries due to her condition. Raijean and I have become such good friends, and she started an organization in Chicago called The Bleeding Heart Project to inform, educate, and raise awareness about heart health. I am so proud of her, and will be joining her and many others in Chicago on Feb. 1st for the Bleeding Heart Project Event and Expo.

So do your part and wear red on Friday for National Wear Red Day. You can also send your photos of you rocking red to info@bleedingheartproject.org, and it will be featured on their Facebook page.

Check me out in my red! Will you be joining me?
