2011 has been a monumental year for me, both business and personal wise. One key component has been my personal vision board, which I set up last December and displayed in my home in my personal space to encourage and motivate me to make moves. If you are unfamiliar, a vision board is a visualization of all of the goals and dreams you aspire to reach—it could be pictures from a magazine of a home or car your want to live in one day, to a person you look up to, to an object. Basically, it’s a visual of what you want to BE. And looking at things visually each day can really rev up your engine and cause you to move forward full steam ahead.
Moguls Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart have touted the use of vision boards for their success. I like using a vision board because it puts everything in perspective for me—visually.
When you conceive it, believe it, and see it, you can BE it.
I have taken down this year’s vision board and I am not getting ready to begin to work on 2012’s edition. When I moved recently, the pictured boards were already installed in my walk-in closet, so I figured this would be a perfect spot to display my vision board. It’s a great place for me to create a board for next year’s goals, but is still out of side for most people. The thing about my board is that it is very personal and private—I don’t share mine with everyone.
I am looking forward to making my new vision board(s) for the new year, and it’s an exciting and fun bonding thing that I like to do with myself as self therapy. I highly suggest that if you haven’t made a vision board, you do so.
What do you think of vision boards? Do you have one?
