February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partn February is American Heart Month, and I’ve partnered with @MedIQCME and Duke Health to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation (AFib), also known as irregular heartbeat which affects 12 million people. My father was diagnosed with AFib and my family has a history of this condition, so I do my best to learn as much as I can about it.

I’ve learned that when the atrium’s squeezing becomes irregular, blood doesn’t flow as smoothly through the heart and clots can form. Those clots can travel to the brain, disrupting the oxygen supply and causing a stroke. People with AFib are at approximately 5 times greater risk for stroke than those with regular heartbeats. Stroke is a leading cause of death and also of serious, long-term disability. It is essential to get to a hospital quickly if you suspect a stroke in yourself or others.Learn the acronym FAST to recognize the signs of stroke:

F = Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A = Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T= Time. If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.

Take this survey (link in bio) for the chance to win 1 of 5 $100 VISA gift cards—takes less than 10 minutes.

Thanks, @mediqcme, and Duke Heart. Supported by an educational grant from the Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer Alliance.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4: The Cubicle Chick’s Working Parent Product of the Year

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 The Cubicle Chick's Working Parent Product of the Year

Disclaimer: I was sent this device from Verizon for my honest review for editorial purposes. This is not a paid nor compensated post, and all opinions expressed above belong to me and are not indicative of the brand and/or companies mentioned.

Working Parent Product of the YearOne of the most fun things I get to do on this here blog is review and test new products. I’ve always been an early adopter of what’s hot and new—so to be able to do it as my job is a win/win. Sometimes, there are products that don’t live up to the hype. And other times, you get something that is so fabulous—so useful—so amazing that you can’t wait to write about it and share it with everyone.

That time has come. And because I am so in freaking love with this device, I am naming it The Cubicle Chick’s 2014 Working Parent Product of the Year. There were 10 in the running, but only one winner. And it was the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that came out on top.

Here’s why:

Size isn’t an issue

As a working parent on the go, I need tech that improves my life and makes it easier to do what I do. Despite my disdain for large phones, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is so boss, I easily overlooked it’s size. And while it’s predecessors were bulky and cumbersome to use (remember how hard it was to open the charging socket on the Note 3—fail), the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a breeze to use. It’s lighter and easier to carry. And because it does it all, there’s no need for you to lug around multiple devices. Since it’s a phablet (phone and tablet), you can do just about everything with it.

All about the battery

It also has amazing battery life, something working parents need. If you forget to charge it at night, no worries. You can go a few days without charging. And this is with hardcore use. Despite it’s Titanic size, the battery life is probably the best on the market.

Camera LOVE

Which brings me to the camera. Working parents on the go, the last thing you need is to be able to take pictures of the kiddos on the fly. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a beast. I recently blogged about it’s camera here and the photos that this thing takes is incredible. The last several trips I’ve gone on, I didn’t have to bring a camera along with me. These photos aren’t just good, but high quality. You need this camera in your life.

Functionality

While on the go, you can also utilize the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 stylus to actually write and circle text—take notes, etc. While at the kids’ dance rehearsal, you can get busy with writing your to-do list. It gives you the ability to multitask, something many of us parents have to do daily.

Fast, yo

And, whilst on the Verizon network, I was able to download apps and surf the web with incredible speed. I also own a iPhone 6 on the Verizon network, and while pulling up the same site on the same devices, the Note 4 loaded faster. Because, your time is valuable, this device has speed.

I don’t know what else to say about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. It’s fast, takes incredible photos, gives you the ability to multitask, and has awesome battery life. Because it does so much and does it so well, I am proud to name the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 The Cubicle Chick’s Working Parent Product of the Year for 2014. Nothing else come close.

Get your device from Verizon, here.
