Working in an office environment makes you long for Fridays. Not just because it means the weekend is approaching, but it also means that you can break out of the traditional career wear and rock something a little more casual. You don’t have to opt for a pair of kakis and tennis shoes—why Casual Friday allows you to look trendy and fabulous in the office with things you may already have in your closet.
This week’s What to Wear on Casual Friday calls for jeans and some sophistication. I love peplum as I am short waisted and it gives me the look of a waist without looking too bulky in the midsection. Pairing peplum and a pair of jeans and some classy heels can showcase your style while bucking traditional office fare.
My neoprene peplum jacket is from Ashley Stewart, and the jeans are from The Gap.
I think peplum works because it still gives you a classic type of look, similar to a blazer. It’s a little more fun and on trend, but still appropriate for the work environment. Paired with your favorite jeans and you get an overall aesthetic that is pleasing to the eye.
The lace up heels I am wearing are from Jessica Simpson (I’ve had these shoes for about three years now so I am not sure if they are still available for purchase. I bought them from Nordstrom).
Pair the jeans and jacket with a tank top underneath for added coverage, and don’t forget some a bracelet to complete the look.
Reason #101 why I love this look is it can transition from the workplace to perhaps meeting the girls for a drink afterwards. Or, if you have a date, you don’t have to worry about changing. This is a perfect desk to date look that they will certainly appreciate.

I love this look! I wear a skinny pants/jacket combo a lot, but it’s even better with a peplum jacket! And those heels are fierce!
